I just put in a custom built-in desk in my house. I left a spot for a keystone wall plate. There are several ports I want to use, one being esata. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on this? From what I can find so far, I will have to get a sata to esata cable/plate and then modify a blank keystone insert to fit it in, as I can't find anyone that makes this currently. End result I am going for here is a plate on the side of my desk

Thank you for your input in this matter. Helps direct my research time. Much appreciated.
Do you need a special adaptor for this to work? That is what I wasn't sure about. All the new drives are sata, and my laptop is IDE. I too was thinking the same thing on the old laptop. This may revive it a bit, and it if crashes, the drive isn't useless. Thanks.
I have an old dell laptop I wanted to revive (the HD died). But replacement 2.5" ide hard drives are too expensive. I wanted to try this. Would this SSD you used work for my application? Thanks.

Hey all. Been running windows 7 for a long time now and really happy with it. One problem I have had is that windows 7 doesn't remember the location on the desktop of opened folders. Where you last opened/placed an open folder on the desktop, the next folder opens in that same location. Not a huge deal, but running a dual monitor setup, and having that function in XP, I really missed it. Just found a solution. No credit here, I just found it. Works pe
I read through all the pages of this and didnt see anything, so I thought I would post here. I am running Windows 7 64 bit and have a problem with transparency on explorer backgrounds. All is working fine, but when I go to re-name a file or folder, the transparency goes away. As soon as I close the window and re-open it, it is ok again. Happens on any skin I have tried, so I don't think it is any specific skin.

What windowblind is shown above? And what wallpaper is that? I like it!
Run Command Prompt as Administrator. Type: mcbuilder.exe and press "Enter". Wait until process will be finished (it may take about 1 minute). Then reboot your computer... Hope you will not see the watermark on the desktop.
Tried this too, nothing. It sat there a bit, I rebooted, but still there. Anyone else have a suggestion?

It is activated, and I wasn't using any extra programs that I have used in the past. Not to say that isn't it. I will poke around, and try what Vad_M said. Thanks for the input. I will report back. I also bought the family pack upgrade dvd so I will be installing 7 on a few computers, so I will see if it happens again to me.
That is what I thought. It wasn't there originally, for probably 2 weeks or so. Then, bam, I booted up one day and there it was. Not sure if an update possibly did it? I haven't looked yet at the recent ones I allowed. I may uninstall those to see if it goes away.
I recently got my windows 7 disk for my sager laptop. I did a clean install and all was good. A few days ago, the desktop watermark appeated, windows 7 build 7600. Should that be there? I suppose I could run the same thing that got rid of that on the beta's, but why did it appear? Anyone have any ideas, has anyone else seen this? Thanks.
Hey 3DFuzion, in your post with a picture of your desktop, what wallpaper are you running on your monitors?

In your screenshot showing the 2 monitors, what wall is that? It is sweet!
I am running dual 22" widescreens on XP with a Nvidia GeForce graphics card. I have two programs that I like. DisplayFusion - good for wallpaper settings and also a few very useful hotkeys Deskangel - ability to have scroll wheel on mouse work on the window under the cursor (whether it is active or not) (This is the most useful of the 2) </
I have been running the beta 64bit for a few days now. I must say I am very impressed. I didn't mind vista, but it had some things I didn't care for. But, windows 7 seems to me like a big improvement. This is my first experience with 64bit too, and I installed on my laptop with 0 problems. I went from boot-from-cd to desktop with internet access in 45 minutes and had to download nothing extra. Just the install dvd and network passkey. I am actually very excited for this to be released
I will post with the same problem with the aero midnight theme. Won't work for me either. I updated to theme manager 3.0 and did a reboot. Saw the theme and tried to apply, all works but the WB. I tried what one person wrote, to go back to windows desktop. That did not work. It also screwed up Iconpackager for me. Nearly all my files showed icons for a different file type. Finally fixed that, but still can't get aero midnight. I am running XP SP3, with all updates through impulse.
I bought a herman miller aeron chair for my office. Best money I ever spent. Yes, they are expensive, but I have had the chair for 3.5 years now, used 6 days a week, approx. 8-10 hrs per day. No problems, ever. I would never work in an office without one. Just my input.
Anyone have any input on this? I could use the help. Thanks.
Anyone?
