Thanks for your help. The "flicker of Death " is no more. My Windows kept telling me that all my drivers were up to date, even when I went thru device manager and searched the internet. So much for that theory. Now I'm still getting system freezes and an out of memory error. Debug.err is included here. Any ideas? I was close to winning a game and almost enjoying it. Bummer... For all the debuggers, maybe this will help... I get the "Flicker of Death" when I move the mouse pointer near the edge of the range of my reachable space. The game freeze doesn't seem to care where the mouse pointer is... May be we can develop some other pet names for all the different bugs this game has...
Shamgar I feel your pain... This is my latest debug.err file. I didn't get the flicker of death this time, the game just froze after I pressed turn. Is there any way to play the game at a primitive level without any bells and whistles so that it won't crash? I'm pretty close to uninstalling and returning the product. Very disappointing is just a nice way of saying..." This game really sucks..." Debug follows Debug Message: Version v1.61 Dark Avatar last up

I have a new quad core computer and fully updated video drivers. I'm still getting the "flicker of Death" and random game freezes. Any idea on what I need to try to fix it? Just got G-Civ 2 and thought it would be fun 2 play. Very disappointing.
