I like that you like to dress nice - and I am very happy for all the extra hugs you are getting for it. What you reap, you sow, seems to be the key here. It is nice to see a return to the "niceties" of days gone by. And dressing nice always does make one feel better and act better and get a better reception. And to have friends to be in charge of roof repairs over the phone - my goodness that is priceless. You are blessed.
LOL It would have triple freaked me out. I would have been naked and screaming in the hallway. But my 5-year-old would have loved it!!! LOL you got to think like a 5-year-old boy in these situations! All those "ant friends"!!!!!

I wish I had some words of wisdom for you. My mom died October 20th this year, totally unexpectedly, and I still don't know how I will get through Christmas. Working and being busy should help. But it's been almost 2 months and still, even though on the surface things feel ok, there are times I just can't do it. I miss her and it still kills me that I won't ever see her again. My hubby is a no recipe cooker too. Sometimes what he makes is really scary looking, but I have to say it's usually tasty. I really like your chili mac non-recipe, it sounds easy and good. I did read once somewhere the unless it is something really finicky, most recipes can just be used as a guideline or as a baseline to make something really great.
It is ugly. Might make for a good gag gift for someone!
The eclipse was so cool. I tried to take pics, but it was hard. The temp here in Manitoba Canada was about -30 something (degrees celsius) ugly and I kept standing on my front deck trying to get a pic but my hands, hell my whole body, were shaking, and i just couldn't get pics to my liking. It was awesome though.
