I like the idea that Mine Fields slow down friendlies that move past/through them. I also like the idea that mines in close proximity to other mines can cause collateral mine damage when they detonate. I would add the following idea: Fighters and perhaps Bombers do not set off Mines, or at least they take far less damage, being more nimble and more able to evade sudden hazards. Think of Mines as being made to counter movement of larger starships. Fighters and perhaps Bombers - but esp

Darklands certainly had the best armour system & armour visuals. Really unforgiving statistical curses though (nay to 'permanent penalties'...).
Cool. Let us still mine the piss out of sectors though please... !
Wow. Never thought of a moving space station. Eminently cool, very creative. I LOVE that facility. Awesome design job Ironclad! Thank you! . I also thoroughly appreciate the entirely distinct research tree for the station - it adds more strategic depth to research decisions, forcing us to even more carefully ponder research choices. I like the direction of this expansion! Am definitely looking forward to both the full release and the other two!
So far, I have seen three issues with the mod. First, the Terran Starbase wasn't upgrading, and second, there is a bug in the mines. If you lay out a field and then right clock to cancel, you get all the money for the entire field back for each mine you clear. Also, the game will let you go way into the red, rather than stopping you at "0". The mines are also too powerful. You can seed your enitre system with over 750 patterns of
My Vasari cap ship did the same thing despite having autouse turned Off. It *is* a bug - simply telling a cap ship to travel to a system should not imply anything beyond travelling to that system. Failure to rectify this entails a step of micromanagement whenever you deploy Colony cap ships. Mind you I have no doubt this will get remedied.
Can`t wait for the 18th. I said I can`t wait ... (grin)
Well, I have to say that first, the screenshot you linked to (thanks) was totally unlike all the media I`ve seen hawked for this title ( Dragon Age ) before. Second, you`re right, it does look pretty promising - very very much like the Icewind Dale party adventuring action I remember. I must say I may be wrong about the game. You`ve got me caring about it now. Hopefully Bioware calls the shots on DRM for the thing and keeps things reasonable. I`d still like to s
3D Yes, "advance" away from isometric view No. I don't know what KotOR you played, but the one I played was not isometric in any way, shape or form. It was over-the-shoulder, much like Mass Effect and Jade Empire. Also, calling BioWare's RPGs "action-RPGs" is an insult to true real-time action RPGs. BioWare's games are turn-based with dice rolling; they just hide it better than most.
"I know K
Pretty cool...
I know KotOR wasn`t isometric in perspective, just citing it (sloppily!) as one of the last Bioware games I enjoyed. Everything I`ve seen of Dragon Age says third-person to me. Perhaps I haven`t seen the right videos, but it looks third/arcade, not iso/rpg/action. As for a fixed camera, I *did* mention Supreme Commander technology; simply being able to zoom out considerably would go far in rejuvenating that approach. Nonetheless there is an ease of use with an isometric perspective -
Besides DRM, Bioware`s games do not interest me these days because they are leaping into perspectives and gameplay they ought not. I became hooked on Icewind Dale (DESPITE the lame/archaic D&D systems at play...) and Knights Of The Old Republic #1 because of both the depth of story and the superb action in the isometric perspective. The real-time action combined with the start-stop command of my Diablo-style party of characters, Icewind Dale particularly, was most engaging. <
You can go ahead and click the Games tab to download any registered or pre-ordered game. Demigod can be downloaded right now without any impact upon the upcoming Beta version. Just be sure to first click the upper left Impulse logo and set your "Prompt for install directory" option if you wish to control where these downloads get placed. Its labelled something like that, anyhow.
I hope the Minimap is togglable... I personally would prefer a more pristine full screen with a minimum of interfacial clutter.
Thanks for listening! Get Supreme Commander 2 on Impulse! Eagerly awaiting that-there Beta 2.
I believe Impulse is respectful of the original OS environment into which it was originally installed. When I installed Impulse for example, I had my McAfee VirusScan On-Access Scan enabled at the time... if I turn it off, which I always do before I game, Impulse comes back with precisely that same error. If I re-enable it, Impulse runs no problem.
I think InsaneTitan has the better approach.
Cool! Thanks for the link - always good to hear that such things are still alive. I`m pleased to read that the heroes are going to reflect their acoutrements.
I always found the original Shogun: Total War to be a little squirrely once I changed OS`s (98 to XP) - I had to re-purchase a new version with the Mongol expansion included in order to run it anymore. Some of the sound & video support was always wonky too. Not DRM oriented, I know.
Yep, GTAIV really makes a strong case for piracy, especially when Rockstar never really needed to go down the DRM route... I don`t recall any reports of outlandish copy activities with that *best-selling* series. Aahh yes, Games For Windows LIVE. That reminds me of... Gears Of War You could play the PC version, but unless you logged in to LIVE everytime you played, you could not access the savepoint feature.
Its a reasonable motto. I`m just trying to enunciate the *whys* behind the error of ways, as I can recall them; EA just happens to be the unfortunate enough purveyor of both my specific recollections thus far. If anybody else can cite other instances of bad DRM schemes and explain precisely why they are so, feel free. Perhaps in making such a list there will be some potential for service to educate folks who might venture to research the subject and read such, especially when they are
NAY Dead Space EA sees fit to run a disc security check at certain doors as you go to open them . The pause is profound and jarring, not to mention somewhat insulting. If they were trying to mask the processes within the gameplay, they failed. Battlefield series EA compels you to successfully log in to their master servers before you even set options. What if those server
You`re right, I don`t read all of them. I`ve been referencing a thread that collects all bugs into a list before I post on such things.
Unless there was a secret retail release of Demigod and the beta phase has ended , I`d say it wasn`t. . Actually after thinking about it, the initial Bestial Wrath would be good at its original 200%, followed by 250% and then 300%. The initial 200% is a necessary bump for the Beast, methinks.
I've noticed something interesting... Once upon a time, console games were the cheaper alternative to PC games. Now the industry has flip flopped. The next gen console games seem to be, on average, between $10 and $20 more expensive. What does that do to the developer? If that extra bit of revenue is trickling down to the dev, then it's got to be tempting to switch over to the console. If it isn't, where is that extra revenue goin
