What if you created your own structure that builds your custom ships?
That's what I'm attempting to do now. The way it's done is so absolutely convoluted though it's proving to be more difficult than I thought. I don't see why frigates and their build order isn't simply defined in the structure rather than being in the player file, and why the class of the ship is linked to the structure. A simple "this structure builds this ship and this ship and this ship" would have mu

Isn't there already one?
Bump for 1.03 possibility, also adding a third page to the Frigate factory doesn't work (messes up UI then crashes)
Each "barrel" is a bone, yes, and if they have the same name they will be sequential "barrels" for the weapon, if different names than they will be different guns.
That stuff is in the mesh. The only thing you can modify in the entity files is how much damage a weapon does from the front, left, right, or rear. But the firing points for all of them are stored in the mesh.yeah I keep hearing that..but no one has said what it is in the mesh! A emitter? A helper?? what about naming conventions for the weapon? I know that its named after the weapon number in its entity file right? Maybe I missed a post somewhere.
This is a little co
Copy and paste the old one, change the strings entries to what you want, and then make it buildable in the PlayerTech(Psi,Phase).entity file?
Which ability did you replaced with your own? Just because i see... the maximum number of abilities are 4/class.
The "auto-scout" ability.
There are a lot of entity-specific frigate variables. I suggest starting with a fighter template and going from there.
We got off the dial-up modem standard in the modern world a few years ago.
We did not, however, get around such antiquated notions as "lower upload speeds than download speeds" or "cable internet", thus your thinly veiled insult is as relevant as saying we got off the gold standard 50 years ago. Time for SCIENCE to illustrate my point in greater detail! Mod X is downloaded from Server Y. Server Y has one hell of a upload speed, as it's connected to a T1 or som
@SgtDPilla - It is owned by ZD and traffic, membership accounts and other collateral elements come into play on the marketing side for advertising
What does that matter? There's no conflict of interest here.
So they were picked as in "paid to do a job"?
No, they were picked as in "community leaders who posted files". No payment was involved. Like I said earlier: you are, in general, reading way too much into this. FileFront is simply a site that has mo
1Spartan FF is very different from someone paying $20 for a shared hosting account and making a "supr-awsum moding site plz join!". I remember when I was in the EaW modding scene, most of the admins of EaWFiles were directly involved in the community (well, PICKED from the community) and it had a very large role in the modding scene. I think you're generalizing too much.
Yeah, but then it's exactly the same as Ion Blast. :/
yeah the game doesnt support dual monitors
This has nothing to do with his question. I have no problems with this, I suggest you use the Windows shortcut rather than SDC to start the game and see if that works.
I'd love it tbh. Patches of course are best served through SDC but there's a need for a centralized area of mods and maps and I've always found the *files sites to be very good in this regard.
1. The specs are ridiculously overblown, this game plays on my laptop. I have the same system as you and it runs at 60fps (capped) 2. Sorta in-between. The diplomacy system is OK. The Dawn of Victory mod (disclosure: I script for it) attempts to make the base game more strategic and micro, so if you don't like the base game you can always wait for that. 3. I wouldn't, tbh. The skirmish stuff more than makes up for it, this is definitely a MP game.
Made a new ability, it's not showing up, added as an ability on the scout so I assume it's a problem with the ability itself? Here goes; TXT entityType "Ability" buffInstantActionType "ApplyBuffToTargetWithTravel" instantActionTriggerType "AlwaysPerform" buffType "BuffIonBlast" targetFilter numOwnerships 1 ownership "Enemy" numObjects 3 object "CapitalShip" object "
And btw, is the 2600 a good card, as I can't find anyplace that actually has a 3850 in stock.
No, that's a really old card. Where do you live? You could also get the 8800GT which is pretty much the same thing.
You can do it in the Sins mod library, or if you want I can host it on my web server.
Got it, thanks! Do you have to use the same Weapon-X naming scheme? I ask because our modeler had a differently named emitter/bone/whatever at the front and the weapon still worked.
Update your drivers first as gungy suggested. If you're going to play those games, I'd go for a 3850 if you have the money. TBH your card is budget and you may have other problems in the future, but it's unknown right now.
Its a dual core btw... I hope that doesn't just own everything we figured out...
What kind of dual core? If you've got a decent Core 2 Duo and don't play a lot of FPS or demanding games you could probably just put a 8600GTS in there for $120, or if you do, a 3850 for $185 or so.
Nah, if CPU-Z says you have a x16 bus you have a x16 bus. If you want recommendations on upgrades, post how much you have to spend and I can recommend a card.
Have a look at the advanced settings under the display properties, it should tell you how much video card memory you have (let us know if you are running vista as this'll add even more to that value)
Anything I'd recommend will run Vista fine. If OP has $200 to blow he could grab a 8800GT or something.
Alright, what are the rest of your specs?
