What kind of slot you have? AGP or PCI-E?

Could be, updated the drivers?
Temp on CPU should be under 55C, graphics card should be under 75C.
Download Thermal Analysis Tool or SpeedFan, check your temps, if I'm correct get a couple fans or something.
overheat = artifacts.
Or just play on a non-pirate map.
Anyone who thinks Illums are worthless and that you should get the battleship as your flagship needs to stop playing Advent. Fact is, a mothership flagship with level one shield regen can clear out any system at the start of the game. Want a Terran planet? A couple ice? Just send in your mothership and keep clicking shield regen. I don't know how anyone would play Advent this way.
False positives are everywhere in AV products and I don't trust them with scanning anything anymore.
Nobody cares about the bloody AI. Play multiplayer. There may be bugs in it, but complaining about it serves little purpose when there's skilled human players everywhere.
Even on MP, I find that if you manage to send the first 1 or 2 pirates to the enemy, it gives you an enormous advantage, especially if the pirate fleet is large. The reason is that it basically forces the enemy to stop expanding during that time and allows you to take more planets. In addi
Carriers, flaks, scouts, Dunovs. Can someone that actually knows what they're doing post a reliable counter? There's a whole lot of speculation but I assume that if anyone actually tried these strategies they'd come to a conclusion.
on the meshes. Short but to the point. more specificaly as a "weapon-1" helper on the mesh
There's multiple "weapon-1"s, and that doesn't specify which weapons go to which emitter.
Intro movie doesn't stretch or anything. I converted another video file to .bik and replaced it and it's just black around. Which is fine, cause otherwise it's either huge distortion or a bunch of separate video files.
the screen goes all multicolers and textured then freezes
Ovwrheating?
I see it for abilities (attachtype or whatever) but not weapons. I see there's "Weapon-1" and stuff, but I don't see where "this gun == this point" is defined.

Advent Illums are way more unbalanced than TEC's could ever be. You could even say that to an effect talking about the Vasari Assailants. In many ways, the TEC LRM sucks.
Imagine an AI that uses a full core for it's processing, and that would just be on a dual core. On a quad you could have an AI per core, or two cores for AI one for graphics and the other for the regular game code. Fun stuff. Any devs want to comment on wether or not we will ever see this happen?
This is a solution in desperate need of a problem.
all your planets have fleets guarding them
Why? Afraid they'll bomb them with their "light frigate spam"? That's why you're going outclassed in colonization.
just discovered the problem!!! I discover a count at the top of the string page that this editor doesn't update!!! so the conter needs to be updated manually. Sugestion: make an updated version that will update the string count
*sigh*
7 player (+1 AI) game played over the course of a few hours. Some absolutely enormous battles including two v one fleet combat with 200+ ships at a star. Largest battles I've ever played. You can download it [link="http://www.tetravalency.org/stor/record.record"]here[/link]
I love this thread and its counterpart. Excellent parody.
does this update the count as well?
Hey Carbon i liked that JPI mod you made, it rocks. What do you mean by adding a new stringcount?
At the top of english.str there is a number that counts the number of total strings. If that count is off, any "new string" added will result in a dump. Don't ask me why it does this. So just make sure you add to that count at the top whenever you add a string.
you have to change the stringscount as well, if you didn't do that already might explain why adding new ones doesn't work
