Quoting Basilisk83, reply 9 well they do get +50% research, free defending drones, and +25%hp while in their territory. they're naturally good defenders and good researchers. OK, the research bonus is enough to move the Iconians to
Once again the Mimot prove themselves a great threat to galactic peace.
and yes, war profiteering mimots will kill us all one day. unless diplomacy is improved and we can band together to fight them
Quoting Taslios, reply 6 so what's so bad about the Iconians? First of all is there anything good about them? They're defensive and they don't have any meaningful boosts to anything useful. They hate the Yor so you can't use the "plant a Yor" artifac
That's interesting. I also worry that giving range to everyone will make missiles less special.
yes, yes it will.
I wonder if it would be cool if kinetic attacks disabled repair for a time?
i think that might be cool, maybe just have it work against the base repair though, so repair ships are still worth it and the onyx can
In 0.90 you got to use 50% of your non-optimal defenses against attacks. Meaning it was ideal to use the defense, but generally similar. In 0.91 you only get to use 10%. So what you are asking for will happen in regards to using the correct attack and defenses. It's also worth noting that the Pirates/Space Monsters and Sentinels only use one weapon type each. So if you want to fight them, it's worth building ships to coun
Quoting Basilisk83, reply 8 also ship roles are being completely ignored it seems. there's no info anywhere on them and it seems you've made 0 changes to the ship roles throughout all of alpha and beta. Personally I'd rather them remove ship roles an
Missiles have a similar manufacturing cost as kinetic, but missiles are getting a nerf to attack and kinetic is getting a boost.
yeah, but it said slightly. right now missile/kinetic/beam is 4/2/2. if this is changed to 3/3/1, which the text suggests since it just says "slightly" and no numbers are given, and i know for beams slightly must mean 1 or else it's going to have no attack. changing it to 3/3/1 would not fix

seems like missiles are still going to be best if they have the same manufacturing cost and dmg as kinetic, but missiles still have the long-range ability. and beams are going to be very hard for people to build a lot of upgraded ones since elerium is the hardest resource to mine, and most people can build smaller ships with the other weapon types in a turn anyway, so beams are just gunna usually be a bad choice for smaller ships i think unless people can build more than 1 of them in a turn,

Promethion seems like it's not very useful once you've built a few special research buildings (unless you're the onyx). It also seems that no one is really needing to use the defense items on ships. some ppl still use them sometimes, but it seems that they're never really needed, and i think that people often dont like to use them because of the 2/3 chance that they'll be useless in a battle, and the fact that they might want to save the elerium, thullium, and antimatter for possib
It's interesting that this is a flat bonus, rather than %. Is that intentionally to get them over the low-growth early game hump?
well the low growth rate was just put in, but the +25hp has always been there since alpha. but yeah, i think that was supposed to be the tradeoff.

drath would def be a very different race due to the +25hp policy. it makes them best with the swarm tactic, as well as giving you bonuses for trading with civs at war, so that might be fun to try to pull off too. personally, i havent played them much, even though i really like them, just because i think the +25hp would make the game too easy early on. now that they have .8 growth though it might even out more, but the b

one thing i thought that the yor were very good at was production. they have the +50% manufacturing policy, which is huge, and on top of that they get to ignore pollution, so there's no downside for them to just build a bunch of manufacturing buildings, unlike every other race. i thought that the only race that could produce ships as fast or faster than the yor were the mimots... and yeah, once kinetic gets balanced they are the default best race with kinetic weapons, so there's that
Off/On isnt the answer. As I stated it happens when the menu doesn't pop up for firing, bribing, etc a leader. I can look at 5 leaders with the menu popping up and I give a bonus. On the 6 leader the menu doesn't pop up. Clicking again to see if the menu pops up will remove the leader as a double click drag drop removal. It is too easy to have a leader pulled off the assignment with such a penalty of loyalty im
My understanding (which could be wrong because, after all, this is a mystery mechanic) is that kinetic weapons are more effective against planets, bases, and nests and worse everywhere else. What's more confusing is that shields work against any type, not just the type that matches their color. I wouldn't read too much into any of this because I suspect it is all going to be rebalanced before release.
i thought

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like missiles are the best due to high dmg and the long range attack ability. kinetic seems to be worst because it's got the high cost of missiles, the low dmg of beams, and doesnt equal up to the other 2 until you've done a lot of research and gotten a lot of thullium. Does anyone else have a good stratagy for using the other weapon types first? i know yor get kinetic boost, and some commander ships increase certain fleet attacks, but beyond that is e

i really like this idea. personally, the nebula is ok for me and i really like it, but i understand that this is a medical issue when it's literally causing pain in people's eye's and heads, not to mention the people that just dont like how it makes it hard to see other stuff. not sure if it would work, we need feedback from the people who have problems with the nebulas, but in theory this might make it so that they can still see some of the beauty of the nebulas without the negative side eff
