GalCiv2 bugs me no end when it tells me about events somewhere. First it centers the map on the event, then it puts the message in the middle of the screen so I can't see where the event occurred anyway. So far EWoM seems similar. How about putting the message on the left side of the screen, and centering the event on the map in the right side, so we can see what its talking about?
Amen! Or, alternatively

ROTFL Brad! Great post! I'll forward the info to my bank's fraud department if my PC doesn't blow up.
+ Added code to propertybucket and xmlutil to handle 64 bit integers (if you're interested)
So, there is a 64-bit version of Elemental?
This would be a VERY welcome addition! I had always hoped they would add something like this to GalCiv2.
This only happens to me in FireFox, not Internet Explorer, opposite of what Charvel1 claims. In any case, this has been an issue for over a year in the GalCiv2 forums. Stardock's web/forum design team always seems to have their hands full taking care of the multitude of Stardock sites. I'm sure it's on their list of things to fix. There was an official bug-reporting thread for forum/website issues, I'll see if I can find it. Edit Here it is: <
Another Bug with windowed mode: Clicking the close button on the game window does nothing. Expected behavior: Should exit the game/kill the process. (Windows 7 Ult. 64-Bit)
According to Process Explorer, Elemental is running as a 32 bit executable from the Program Files(x86) directory on my Windows 7 Ult. 64-bit machine. I remember Frogboy stating he wanted native 64-bit in Elemental. Is this an installation issue, or something that isn't/won't be availble later? Thanks. If you want some great support, head over to the EVGA forums, we've got a lot of experience working with those nForce boards and driver issues, even if your board isn't an EVGA brand, we can probably hook you up. My best guess is that you need a proper driver pack - the 15.xx and later nVidia driver packs are problematic. Check out this troubleshooting FAQ I did on the EVGA forums for their 680i series. Most, if not all of the advice there is applicable to all nForce-based
Hrm, nope, unfortunately I don't have an Object Desktop subscription (whish I did!)
A bit off-topic, but related: make alliances useful, and make them demanding. What I mean by that is that most 4X games have this flaw when your AI ally will declare war but won't even notice you're not helping him. Have the AI check whether or not you are helping, have it quantify that help (it could be money, troops, or attacking the common enemy). And take inspiration from Alpha Centauri for the coordinated attack plans in the diplomatic scr
Great idea! I always felt that the AI not remembering past actions kinda pulled me out of the gaming experience. A system such as the above, if implemented well, could extend the 'suspension of disbelief' a little longer by making the AI seem a bit more real. Megajames75's comment appeals to me as well, keeping the numbers(amount of diplomatic currency) internal would further prolong the 'suspension of disbelief' I covet.
I just noticed Impulse offering me a free version of Tweak7 v1.00[b] I wasn't able to get any more information about it via Impulse (I tried the More Info and History links, and also tried a search within Impulse) I was able to find a little more information on it by googling, but I still have some questions: Will the free version expire at some point? If so, what will happen at that time? Does the free version contain all the current features?
Hrm, I'm suprised at some of the replies to this. C2L, I know exactly what you are talking about. I've seen this bug in every version of GalCiv2 I've played on multiple computers and it acts just as you describe. It is not inteneded behavior. It's a bug that under circumstances described above, grants the player full vision of a region of space he/she should not be able to see that will persist until a new game is started. There were one or two updates a wh
Not sure, but I think if you go to your civilization manager screen and go to the victory conditions tab, it will show the objectives.

So, it won't do anything to change your game, ot
After 2.03 there was another quick update to bring the installer more up to date. Didn't change anything else with the game.
I'm surprised no one has suggested this yet: Just before you click the turn button, zoom your camera into a region of empty space. This will speed things up tremendously. The basic reasoning is that even with the game options you've selected, it still has to draw the ships moving. But if you're only looking at a tiny piece of empty space on the map, the game knows it's unnecessary to draw the ships moving and can move them more "instantaneously". In any cas
I'm assuming the "Misc other updates and fixes" are the items listed by Frogboy in the first post. I'm surprised this didn't make the headlines on the front page, or the impulse page, or twitter.

How many players should/can we allow in a game? 8? 12? 32? If we are including AIs in this, the more the merrier! How sophisticated can we make dungeons in the game? How sophisticated can we make quests in the game? How sophisticated can we make tactical battles in the game? How big of a scope can we give the campaign? </b
It's because there aren't enough 'slots' for 2 new races. Even one race would remove the slot for the custom race.
This turn button thing could be the result of the game waiting for you to tell your ships where to go. Depending on what you set for autopilot in the game's options, when an autopilot ship is sitting out in space with moves left, or if one is on guard or sentry duty and 'sees' another ship, it will wait for a response from you. The turn button not showing up is a way of notifying you of this. So next time this happens: Press the 'Tab' key to cycle through the ships
Hrm, it sounds to me like the game may not have installed properly. I'd recommend re-installing the whole game. Also, check under your My Documents folder for a folder called My Games. In there should be a folder for each version of GalCiv. Look in the GalCiv folders for a file called Prefs.ini (it's a text file that holds the settings for the game, you can open it up and look at it and change some things from there) There should be a bunch of other files and
