Thanks everyone! I've been using this (almost) every day since I began skinning it, and I like how it's coming. I can't wait for the dark substyle! [e digicons]:w00t:[/e]
But I got the impression that the start button was fixed?
It is. Why, do you see something I don't?

Have a great one, Wiz!
This is really cool! Great job!
BTW- If you notice in the screeny above, my menus are supposed to have rounded corners, and are supposed to be nice and clean; and they are except for in Firefox 3. Can anyone shed some light as to why? What am I doing wrong?
Here's an updated screen shot. Basically all that's left in the Light Vista Substyle are all the nitpickity minutiae that you just don't see everyday. [e digicons][/e]

Oh, and I decided not to animate the start button. Seemed like overkill.
Thanks for all the positive feedback guys! I also appreciate the constructive criticism, as it has helped in a few areas (like the start button). As far as progress goes--I'm probably 85% done with the Vista light substyle. Then I'll have to make the V dark substyle, then the XP versions... Total progress is probably around 60% complete.
it wont get past the stinking "dowwnloading impulse update screen". Ive disabled my firewall, i've put it on the exeptions list.
I had this same problem. For me, the answer was temporarily disabling my anti-virus. I need to do this each time I run Impulse, or else it sits there...and sits there...
I'm just curious, as to why it is there at all? Software [Individual], should be a stand-alone application, IMO.. don't hate me for my opinion folks.
Did you bring the customary beer and pizza?
[e digicons][/e] [e digicons]:pizza:[/e] [e digicons]:D[/e] Welcome, Drksd!
Here is a conversation I had with my 5-year-old yesterday about our beloved country: Son: Dad, when can we go to America? Me: We live in America. Son: We do? Me: Yes, we do. You see, we live in a house. That house is in a town. In which town do we live? Son: Merrillville. Me: Ok, and Merrillville is in which state? Son: Indiana. Me: America has 50 states. One of them is Indiana. Our house is in Merrillville, in Indiana, in Americ
Maybe try disabling any security software before trying again. I don't know if that'll work, but it might. [e digicons]:)[/e]
I feel so completely dense! Somehow I missed this WIP! Oh well, I got the blind. Great job, Robbie! [e digicons][/e] Now, may I have permission to make you some docks?
I read your other post and the replies. I'm glad things have been going so well for you. God bless you! Now don't be a stranger! [e digicons]:)[/e]
I think the start button needs centered horizontally?
Dang you, V! I had already caught it and was hoping no one else would. [e digicons]X|[/e] It's actually already fixed. Just in the process of fine tuning the animation. It also doesn't help that I have actual WORK to do tonight. No skinning for me until tomorrow night. [e digicons]:([/e] Seriously, though. Your eye for detail and desire for excellence motivates me. Thank you.
What's the theme of this suite going to be?
Yeah, gotta admit that the orb takes it again. Gotta save that "anti-orb" stuff for another skin, I guess! [e digicons]XD[/e] Thanks for your input, everyone! Now to perfect the animation on the start button. I would say that the Metal (light) substyle on Vista is about 75% done.
Eww.....Girls have cooties! What kinda girls you hangin out with
I always wanted those kind of cooties! [e digicons][/e]
if it feals good to YOU then it's right....
Feals (feels? [e classic];P[/e] ) GREAT ! [e digicons][/e]
I did it. I made the start button an orb. And I have mixed emotions. [e digicons]:D[/e] [e digicons]:([/e] [e digicons]o_O[/e] I really do like this encarnation very much. The best one I've done yet, IMO. I was just aiming to stay away from that orb look (sorry Robbie!). The pic below shows the default view and the mouseover view. I haven't animated it yet, but I will. Survey says?
Don't be afraid to jump into sks6 headlong and just "figure it out." Also, find other well designed skins (try to stick to master skinners if you can--vStyler, Tiggz, NightTrain, to name a few) and study them. See how they were done, and why certain settings were used. Make copies of skins and change things to see what happens. Once you begin your blind, be prepared to spend several months hashing it all out. Oh, and don't ever become content with the quality of your o
Does anyone want some KoolAid?
Ooh! Ooh! Me! Me! [e digicons]x_x[/e]
why not just do a wicked orb with animations? i think it would suit the skin.......
I've seriously thought about that, but I am doing everything I can to see if I can stay away from the default "vista orb" in this skin. I think my last skin's orb start button was cool, but I don't want to start skinning in a rut. [e digicons][/e]
Thanks for the input Doc, Jim, & Robbie. I liked that new start button when I first did it, but I'm not so sure now. A new idea for the start button is one of the ideas I got from the auto show! [e digicons]:sun:[/e]
Just got back from the Chicago Auto Show. And brought some ideas with me. [e digicons]}:)[/e] Stay tuned. . .
