ambient light: 5 (changing doesn't have much of an impact on my setup) Brightness: 50 Contrast : 50 Even small increments with brightness and contrast seem to have a substantial impact but the 50 / 50 setting is spot on. My monitor is a 46 inch LED TV :P

This has been a small annoyance since WOM. I guess since I play RTS games a lot, I am used to just moving the mouse to the edge of the screen. It is proving really hard to break that habit. I think this same sequence has happened about 100 times to me - 1. Do something on the visible map 2. Move the mouse to the edge 3. Think "damn it, it doesn't work that way in this game, was it right or left click...". 4. Right click by accident movi
Same here. It's hard to describe but I guess very well polished is as good a term as any. The world definately seems more alive and i've been having fun so far with the one game I started.
I downloaded the beta to a drive other than C:\ however it appears the temp files when unpacking default to C:\ anyway. Not having more than 3 gigs free at the moment on that drive, no error is thrown when it fails while unpacking. It worked after I freed up ~5 gigs. Just posting this in case others run across the same thing.
One probably can't use diplomacy as a comparison since Rebellion seems like it will be larger however, I think the announcement of that expansion was in early September and the diplomacy beta started in late November of the same year. It may have been the case that they announced Rebellion much earlier to the public than previous expansions. I agree with the others that we probably won't see a Rebellion beta for the next month or so with Fallen Enchantres
Is it not a quick process for sure. There are also those mods which run half that time and then suddenly die before they are ever released which is disappointing for both the fans and the makers. People are eager to play it and I can't blame them. It looks awesome with many sick teasers. One can only take so much teasing without the goods before they tease back :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4aPGtx7e6k
Yeah, I need to think of them as mobile drone factories and not as traditional carriers.
Fuel would be great if it were there to serve a gameplay purpose like limiting how far your enemy can invade without regrouping for supplies so you have a chance to come back however that is not really needed with Sins. In Sins, defenses, star bases, and choke points fill that role. I imagine that is why the antimatter recharge rates are forgiving. I have seen it implemented well in other games where is wasn't a chore like Conquest Frontiers War but that was a much
Interest fades after a while. I am sure many were checking regularly and posting waiting for word of beta. Now we know it's not coming out this month, they are probably not visiting as much. Also there were lots of big titles released last month so I image that also has something to do with it.
I hope whatever it is, it is something that hasn't been done before. Maybe something from Phase space that doesn't resemble what we'd typically think of as a lifeform and has an agenda other than wiping out the galaxy.
I'd wager if not by December 16th, then probably not until 2012. And the likelihood that it would be out by the 16th I think is low since it is so close and we haven't heard anything about the beta yet.
When I saw the image for the first Vassari ship shown at the top, I figured it was a corvette. It's difficult to judge the size of some of those ships without another ship as a reference. The disk above the last ship there looks a bit strange but maybe in game there is some special effect to explain or attach it to the rest of the ship.
In the words of Gary Gnu " No gnews is good gnews".
The ramp up makes sense given impulse is gone as does Elemental FE beta beating Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion beta to the punch.
I don't play multiplayer games much and when I do, they tend to be ones I can drop in and out of quickly. I have played sins a few times online and liked it despite not doing so well in the matches. I think in any game there is a learning curve but in sins especially, the learning curve plus the game time can be discouraging. If it takes 30 mins just to get going and you get crushed at the end, it is not very encouraging to keep trying. This is especially true if
Interesting idea and I like it. All players start the game with one titan and the last one to lose theirs wins. If this were a game mode, you'd either have to restrict the building of defenses or some how encourage players to actively use their titans in battle but it that were achievable, it sounds like fun. There is another rts which had a similar mode.. maybe it was age of empires, where each player starts with a king and the goal is to kill the other players king.
This is going to sound weird and I am not 100% sure why but I thought mechanical pencil when I first looked at this titan. Maybe it's the pen clip like structures or the main part which brought to mind the containers which hold extra lead. It deserves a fitting and terrifying name, one better than the TEC Papermate :P
I doesn't look that much bigger than the star base in the background however it's tough to tell with the angle. It definitely seems scaled down from the first concept Athena render. Still pretty cool though.
The titan in that new pic looks awesome. If titans are going to be upgradable like starbases, I hope the upgrades really show in the models. Even for an early draft, it's looking great!
I agree, I want cloaking to be implemented in some way, don't care how as long as it's better than the navigator's Phasic Cloaking Bility, which I find totally and utterl;y useless. In order to be worthwhile, the navigator needed to have reintigration as well, so you could heal while untouchable. -Twilight Storm
I like the idea of cloaked vessels having no shields but working
Even if the AI sucks, being able to start a game verse them (from your last post sounds like you'll be able to but is not recommended) is cool. People like to try and learn the ins and outs of the how the game plays with the mod without the competitive pressured environment that is multiplayer.
Awesome work guys. I just tried beta .8a and it's coming along great!
So stop badgering and whining at the developers like they owe you or something. Without them there'd be no Sins. So give them the respect they deserve.
I didn't get that impression at all from this thread. Maybe it's true on the guild wars 2 boards but to me it seems like fans just looking for more information because they are excited about the new expansion here. Besides, interest
Maybe the news is that the beta is starting! [e digicons][/e] One can hope.
1) One thing I think could use some improvement is in the maps area. There isn't much variety aside from the layout. This hasn't really bothered me or been noticable before until I tried the Stars mod where the galaxy maps really have personality to them. I imagine it as building further upon artifacts but not necessarily going too heavily into an RPG direction. I am sure there are better ways but how about the following: - one
