2011 could be, yes. Then again, I could always wait until December 21, 2012. ;) That may be a fix specific to TA 2.x-I could have sworn I'd played a version of TA (after beta) where it was possible. Good point about having less libraries, though. Actually, Maiden, there are methods I'm using that you didn't, and methods that you use/used that I'm not taking advantage of-nor even able to take advantage of. But I'm glad you haven't left us quite yet.&nb
So, just to confirm, inflation is based on the number of techs, not the RP cost spent? If so, that means that one should prefer to dive deep into the tree, and not try to mop up seemingly cheap techs.
There may be a modifier to it based upon cost, which could account for the variation-numbers aren't exactly the same in all games, for instance-but yes, it's generally valid, for a ~95%+ confidence range of the above stated

0) Traded techs DO trigger tech inflation. Whether they trigger it on the turn they're obtained, I don't remember, but at the very least by the next turn. 1) Tech inflation occurs in DA as well (I think even DL but it's been so long I can't remember), but functions differently: You get a certain amount of "free" techs (that is, not inflated)-somewhere between 30 and 50 if memory serves. After that, individual techs increase it by 1 or 2%, in general, whereas completing a t

Just wanted to make a single point by itself. SirPleb, consider the possibility of passing 10 trillion population by, say...October 1st of Year Zero.

It's possible I spoke with too much haste concerning your ~600K Y1 score, considering that according to my models Maiden's 687K Y0 should have been capable of somewhat more than its final result (2.24M, give or take), but as I don't remember what maximum value my model gave for it, it's difficult to be certain. It would be more helpful to know what your Y0 score was (although without the Y1 information you've provided, since the Swindle did not occur in Y0, I'd be perhaps even more in

Points: -Population gives you credit for each 1,000M pop, whereas research, economy, and military give you credit for each 10, 10, and 20, respectively, with regards to score. The upshot of this is that there is no insane population game that will also give a respectable score. Trust me; I've tried. Fast growth does benefit score, but there's only so much growth you can get, and only to certain population levels. -Immense scores approximately 10.55% more than

Check the planet(s) for Fertility Clinics-I remember the Altarians having between 4 and 5%. Your math does appear to be correct, though-it may be a bug; I'm certain they're not supposed to have 7%. Apologies for not being able to give definitive numbers at present.

Yet another change from DA to TA. There are some class 1-3s in TA, but they're very rare-perhaps as much as 2 or 3 in a ~500 planet Gigantic/Immense abundant. I can't remember if DA had a change from 1.8 to 2.x but if it had one it wasn't as significant.
I don't like that constructors have upkeep. How do I change it back to the way it was?
You can't; it's a codebase change. DA still has no maintenance for them, though.

The Ctrl-N difficulty reset bug appears when you reload a saved game and then do a Ctrl-N on it. It's possible there are other rarer circumstances that might cause it, but that's the only one that I've seen that consistently has that effect.

You didn't do anything wrong; it's an engine limitation. I've forgotten the specifics-I know you can't add new colony/troop modules, but I'm also fairly positive you can't change their capacities to values that don't already exist (for instance, a 1000M colony should work, since 1000M is adv troop, but a 750M shouldn't). It should actually be decently simple for a feature request, though.

4 Replies 7,463 Views

Nope, it's hardcoded. Sorry. You might consider requesting it as a feature, but it's probably too complicated and in any case would most likely only get into TA, not DL or DA.

Leveling up only increases HP, last time I checked. It's a flat value per level up, I believe. When a ship repairs, it repairs a set amount of hp, which can raise it over its max hp. This is the effect you're seeing. I don't have access to my GC2 at the moment, so I can't help you with the SB issue.
Thanks, it was realy confusing. Starbase Assist (technically ship assist) is an absolute value, not relative. A starbase with 50 attack will give the same bonuses as a starbase with 0 attack, provided the assist modules are installed. Starship Quality increases the Attack stat by the stated percentage for ships with attack. Interestingly, if you build a ship at a planet with a Starship Quality bonus and later upgrade it to one with weapons, it also gets the bonus. I remember ships built prior to

1) Agree with qrtxian. -Range limitations and colony maintenance are both designed to slow the rush, and in general I find to be good things. -A specific number of stars and planets makes the game too easy to plan for. Variety is the spice of life. -I don't see the point of altering the population growth rate when you have it as a racial ability. -GC1 was 1 month per turn. That feels better to me personally. -Basing population growth on food capacity is

The 5pc/wk limit is a mega event, not a UP event. There's no voting on it. You can't add two constructor modules to a ship. Transports giving weapons could help if you're still colonizing and using troop/colony ships, but otherwise it's probably not going to save on cost or space.

11 Replies 50,090 Views

This isn't particularly relevant to the discussion at hand, but since this issue has been addressed in this thread by multiple posts, it's appropriate. Aside from the 5pc/wk cap mega event, I'm actually quite comfortable with DA's speed and engine values. The engines might cost a little too much, but DL was way too cheap. I would think that, for the purpose of filling a 16 or 24-MSA, the speed boosters on additional MSBs, allowing for +16 speed in a sweet spot that only

Number 6 is definitely not possible; you can't alter the tiles themselves to give them the results you want, because the possible bonus values and attributes are hardcoded. I'm fairly possible number 8 is impossible as well, but I've never attempted it. If the AI is NOT designing its own ships, raise the difficulty level, and optionally enable the option to force it to use max CPU. At the higher difficulty levels, it does design, and re-design, and somewhat frequently.&n

You can use any tech that you trade for, yes, so, generally speaking, it does you a lot of good to trade for techs that aren't naturally in your tree, as you can't get them any other way. The asterisk, if I remember correctly, means they're the only civ in game with access to that tech-while there are still race-specific techs, if you have two civs with the same tree ingame, you won't see an asterisk for their racial-unique techs. Mumble has answered your other questions, and
