Average approval is only useful for elections. Minimum approval is what is helpful for population growth purposes. I can't imagine a target income level being useful. We care about income, but only in the sense that it's at the maximum with respect to our target approval, so target approval should be sufficient. Alas, this is probably too much to expect to be added to GC2 at this late stage, and even if it were added, the likelihood is it would only be added to the

Core ships no longer unlock in TA, at last check; the autodesigner was supposed to replace that function for people who don't prefer to build their own ships, since, as stated, the core ships are inferior to custom designs. I can't remember if it's turned on by default, though-you might have to enable it yourself, in the game options. It's possible I'm remembering slightly wrong and there are circumstances under which core ships do unlock in TA, but as I generally play as a cu
You're remembering incorrectly. TA has less habitable planets, at minimum, on average, and at maximum. A scattered/loose Gigantic DA has ~650-750 planets, whereas the same settings in TA generates ~450-550. Other sizes and star patterns show the same effect. Interestingly, an Immense map actually seems to have on the order of 8-10% less planets than Gigantic (both TA), at least from memory. So you're seeing -both- effects, not just one.
It has been said on several occasions that GC3 will likely use the Elemental engine, which still has some issues to be worked out, although it has already officially launched. (No offense meant; GC2 wasn't perfect at launch, either.) I know there's been talk of GC3's intended release year being 2012, but I don't remember anything specific or substantive.
That's not true; you can fleet them, and due to the targeting algorithm prioritizing ships with attack, they'll always be targeted last*, since 0/x is always 0. *Assuming the other ships in the fleet are attack vessels, since you're trying to protect the TS...
I think it's somehow tied to the ships' attack power. I know that it's derived from another value automatically, as opposed to being set anywhere in the ship XMLs.
Ships with an attack value (military ships, i.e. ships that are counted to determine your military might/military rating) have maintenance. It is a percentage cost-in DA, 3%, in TA, 3.5%. However, constructors also cost maintenance in TA-it appears to be addin
1) The game has a bug that will allow you to move a TS anywhere you like in one turn. Even from one side of an Immense galaxy to the other. It does, however, seem that most people are completely unaware of this. 2) I am personally of the opinion that Terror Stars should be one-use ships; they should blow up with the star. After that, we can potentially discuss making them more viable in other aspects, but without it, any improvements to them would simply make them ov

I'm not going to read through all that, but, what is the record for a ZYW ending on April 8th, as i still see that as what i meant when i coined the phrase ZYW. An April 8th victory to me is what a ZYW is all about, so if anyone knows whats the record for that? These longer games, though obviously w
They have no additional content besides the games themselves, they're just packaging names. Endless Universe was packaged to run without DL because the company in question didn't have the rights to include DL at the time, as I understand it. While DL is a very different game, generally speaking, if the options were reversed, I wouldn't worry too much about only getting DA and TA. However, in your situation, it's a no-brainer: All 3 for that price is a steal.
I've only ever had this, or something like it, happen once, and it was in DA 1.7ish. I know that bug was fixed, as it was apparently tied to the Xeno Ethics bug that allowed you to zero out your debt, but I wasn't aware anything similar ever existed, or that it still does, in DL. And for what little it's worth, I was only about 537 million in debt-I could still (sort of, my memory of the game is a bit fuzzy nowadays) see how screwed I was. Yours may in fact be anoth
Overall you get most out of the Federalists. The reason is that you can use the 20% economic bonus on your entire economy. This affects your production and research. If you pick, say, Technologists, you get a 20% bonus only on research. Plus, because it's a research bonus, you have to pay for half of the cost anyway! Technologists would have to have more than 40% bonus on research to look even barely competitive with the Federalists. Th
They are, as would be expected, lost.
The number in brackets is the amount of foreign influence, relative to your own. On enemy planets, it is the amount of your influence, relative to theirs. It isn't, sorry. You can pay another AI to go to war with them, placing warships near the things you want destroyed, or you can do it yourself.
Population has a double effect on morale-a malus and a multiplier. 20B is -66%, while 25B is -90% (for DA/TA; for DL 25B is only -80%). This means if you have 5 VRCs on the planet in question, and a 120% racial morale bonus (for instance), you'll get 5x40=200x0.33=+66 morale out of the VRCs to balance out your -66 from pop at 20B, and 120x0.33=+40 from racial morale. But at 25B, you'll only get 200x0.1=20 and 120x0.1=12, for a total of +32, combined with your -90 gives you
Once your planets are maxed, you can afford to run at 21% approval, except the week of the elections (twice yearly), for which you'll want about 60% to guarantee winning. Even up until that point, if you're not Breeder, 100% helps, but it's not that large of a difference from 41% if you need the money. You still get normal growth at 41% approval (planet based, minimum, so your empire may deviate slightly on average). More planets will definitely help (large map is big en

Tech capital was changed in TA; it now functions as a planetary racial bonus. What this means for you is that it adds on to your previous bonus, instead of multiplying it by 2. For Tough, where there's no difficulty-based hidden bonus to research, this means, with the following: 25 (Altarians) +20 (customization) +20 (Technologists) +10 (Planetary Improvements) = +75% +Tech Capital = +175, so 2.75x your base production. In DA this would be +75=1.75, *2 = 3.5x
I can't imagine it being 3am helped, either. Then again, I have to remember, not everyone is EST. I have no idea what it uses when they're tied. https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Fleet_combat
Before the combat begins, each side determines the order it will fire on the opposing side's ships. Double post, so sue me. I like the look of no edits, it's cleaner. Apologies if I came across a little strong, or a little rude. It bothers me that something like this incident has come to pass in the GC2 community, and not been handled better, as I always viewed it as one of, if not the most mature, of SD's communities. It probably hasn't been as bad as it could have been on some other parts of SD, but I'm seriously sick and tired of the mudslinging (which, to be fa
and made clear that you did not understand exactly what was going on
I don't see that part accounted for. It's certainly possible KP had too much on his plate and missed that much; we have all been at that point in some point in our lives, I imagine. Not to drag this on any longer than it should go on, but it seems logical to me to follow up with a second PM if the first one fails to reply to what I've sent. I understand why you could think that, yes
You can't actually prevent -all- damage. Furthermore, in DA and TA, you want your defenses to be at least as high as the opponent's FLEET's attack, which is really only possible early game, and almost requires a significant investment in end-tree defenses. The reason you can't prevent all of it is because both weapons and defenses roll from 0 to max, so there's a chance, even with 150 defense versus 1 attack, that the defense ship will die-but it's not very high. Well, y
That's not actually your opponent's influence, it's simply the ratio of yours to theirs, or in that case, theirs to yours. Since planets tend to flip once you reach 4.0, it's good you were able to decrease it. I would expect improvements to be your embassies and such, and presumably they derive their % bonus from the planet value (which I haven't studied and can't claim it to be PQ, or anything related), I'm getting conflicting numbers, so the two possibilities are that it
