The Thalans, Torians, and maybe a few others don't have them. Maybe there's something wacky about the new XML files that means Galactopedia thinks a tech is available but the game doesn't?
For the record, my information comes from the most recent TA (1.99rc aka 2.0 beta), and I'm usin

It required 1GB RAM, while the other OS were working fine with one quarter of this amount. It took about 5 GB from the harddrive, while e.g. Win98 something about 0.5 GB (with virtual memory file). And it used to have compatibility issues too.
XP SP2 took 1.3GB of HDD space installed. I don't have clean drive numbers on SP3.

It sounds like it is affecting the campaign also. Maybe the ability is beefed up for the campaign. Take a look and see if your speed is only dropping when in their space.
Correction: The Yor super ability restricts ships to 3pc/wk within their borders, not X-2.

I've never heard of that. Care to define these "several places"? Did you perhaps read it in the "what we want for 2.0" thread? It sounds interesting, at least.

Sometimes the AI makes REALLY horrid decisions in city planning.
I've read and heard a few different versions of "this number." My favorite is from the Comedy Central News Hour, and, IIRC, the practical meaning is about 2,000 fast-food hot apple pies. The harder parts of the question have to do with the immediate use value of whatever it is that is exchanged for the hot apple pies and the future use value of both that mysterious "whatever" and a given lot of hot apple pies.
I like pie.

There goes my theory, then. Depending on how old the savegame in question is, anyway.

@Chris I see you're on DL (the initial colony gave it away). What's the version number?

24 Replies 14,427 Views

Slight corrections: 2) Focus (within the planet/colony screen) takes a portion of your funded production and channels it into other funded (or unfunded) production. This is a way to get, say, research production without actually funding research. You'll notice if you have research at 100% funding, focusing on research has no effect whatsoever. (In DL & DA, it takes 25% of the base funded production, truncated, and passes that value to the focused production.&nbsp

Question-because I figure you guys will know. I'm considering running some ZYWs on one char, and some "real" games on another char. This is an intent, not a guarantee, so don't be surprised if I don't wind up posting an MV game for another six months. My question is whether there is a restriction on two or three of the three character slots that a person has being in the same empire. This seems to me to be a separate issue from what has been discussed above, but I

What's your logistics? If, for instance, you haven't researched beyond basic logistics and are trying to put two large/huge hulls into a fleet, you'll have insufficient logistics for it. Alternatively, you may have been hit by the Plague mega event, which sets all abilities (including logistics) to zero for its duration (so if you've got it, you'd better research plague cure ASAP).

2 Replies 2,274 Views

@randomkeypress They're called MEGA events for a reason. There is a perfectly non-mega pirate event that occurs with megas turned off that should satisfy you (and the majority of gamers, including myself). And, just for the record. Peacekeepers > Mega Pirates.
