The worst thing about creativity in my book is that it seems that it procs at a much higher chance when you don't have any research ongoing, IME anyway. This is, obviously, a bad thing, because that means you can just run yourself into debt and hope for creativity. Apparently creativity now no longer procs without research spending in the latest update (I'm not positive but I believe I'm referring to the one due out today-as the most current version of TA, which I have, and is reported
I mean, the Thalans traveled back through time, across dimensions, in order to save their race from extinction Perhaps last time around they conquered everything, and this led to their extinction. This time, they realised that in order to change the future they needed to appear to be subjugated in the short-term... in order to pave the way for a resurgence later on...
Well, they DID suppos
Good job on coming back from such a low bank number, especially if it was a bug. The come from behind wins are usually the most fun. ~ Wyndstar
Firstly, my apologies for pseudo-threadjacking. I'm somewhat tempted to do a writeup of that game (though this post almost is one-you have all been warned), as just saying I was 537m BC in the hole really doesn't even tell half the story. To be honest, though, I don't remember that much of the game; in
I like your idea, Swicord, but it seems to me defeating only the Drengin (and not all the other races) with the Torians would be a fairly simple task-though, of course, this only applies to GCII...it could very well change in GCIII. Some people don't play for score; to them a win is a win. Though, I have to admit a victory condition for the Korath where they have to spore EVERY single enemy planet, for example, would be...interesting. Assuming the AI treated the spore ship
Would be useful; split screen moreso than multimonitor as not all of us, even in this day and age, have multiple monitors. Just so long as it's not fixed-while I'd love the ability to take a look at where a planet is, what class it is, etc, while still in the trade screen, I have to admit it would annoy me to no end if I could only ever see the galaxy on half of my screen. And then there's the time I wanted to run two desktops from my one monitor; GCII on one screen and my browser on the oth
As far as the morale/happiness/taxation/government thing... I've been considering a solution of sorts to this, though it doesn't really make sense from a realistic point of view: Just hold elections every week. If that's too "off" then maybe you could keep the election at the 25/26 week mark, and have that one take away the economic bonus if you lose it; in addition to the normal penalties. While I agree that having average morale over time determine elections wo
I just wanted the TA Thalans to be good at -something-. There hasn't even been a balance patch since they were implemented. This isn't the release candidate. I mean, jeez, problems with what is the first release of a product in a beta? :O
I was trying to sarcastically jump on the "Thalan nerf" bandwagon. I guess it didn't work. Not that I don't believe they're n
-Should- only appear when running it in cheat mode...was testing some things...it's nice to be able to do almost anything. Also a very nice mode for making ship designs. Anyway. Doing the all tech research thing re-gives you bonuses from techs you've already researched. i.e., I have a tech that gives me +10 to mp, I research it first (or, in the case of DA, [may] already have it), and then I get that +10 mp -again- when "all" techs are researched. I only noticed this
Mine just showed up with a +2 speed bonus (additional), a +10 military production bonus, and a +10 social production bonus, using the 10 points to customize them...and I haven't played them yet! Race selection screen, stats are normal. Click next to go to customization screen, and they have all their 10 points used up. Odd. Unable to duplicate with any other race or even with Altarians again, though I'm trying. Mine do, however, still have their techs...for the momen
If it's already been changed (being changed?) so that you actually have to have research production for it to proc, then why take the tech victory techs off of the table? Because winning the game with a tech victory based of your creative ability is cheezy. <
Oh, and I forgot, I made it so that you can't get any of the tech victory techs with Creativity. You still have to research those. Any chance on negative War Profiteering actually working, though? So that if other races are at war, you get a hit to your economy? Not as currently implemented. We don't have any other categories of income that could potentially actually be an expense and if we had a neg
I have to ask-would you have given up had you been 537m BC in the hole? Now THAT'S a hole. As for how it happened, that was a bug, which it took me...several months to encounter...and I believe has been fixed since. Really don't mean to rain on your parade; what you did was above and beyond the call of duty. I can't help but be curious at what point you -would- give up, though, and that game of mine is the best (or worst, rather) example I can offer up; at least that
Enhanced Xeno Farm and Intensive Farming are both unlocked by Xeno Farm Construction II (was playing as the humans, but no idea if that's even relevant). Enhanced Xeno provides 3 food (description is still the DA one from Xeno and says five; Basic appears to have been converted to Xeno and downsized, but that's not the issue, though a correct description would be nice) and has 1 maintenance, while Intensive provides 6 food...and has 1 maintenance. So, to sum up, one tech is unlocking t
Worked, thanks. Reads 1.80g ingame now, as well as in SDC (though I maintain it looks more like a q).
So... Mine reads 1.80q (g, apparently, but I like the letter q better anyway) in SDC. Haven't done an MV game yet, nor even created a character, to be honest, but ingame it reads as 1.80e. Should I do a reinstall? Not that I'm nervous about doing one, but if it's not necessary then why bother, right? What's the difference between e and g, anyway?
Eh, that's what I meant. Everything goes boom and the planets become asteroids. Didn't mean to imply ships became asteroids, but didn't remember what happened to existing asteroids. Personally, I like Terror Stars. I like having that option. I like how much power they have, and I like the fact that they also take a while to build, mobilize, and move. I'm just not sure that limits their power ENOUGH. I just don't think that there should really be situations where you're better off
Just curious what everyone's ideal population is. Obviously 16B for a homeworld (or maybe not obviously?), but what about a colony? I used to max them out at 13B, using one adv farm, but I've been experimenting lately, and due to the morale drop, as well as the tech cost going from xeno to intensive to advanced, it seems like it's really not worth it. So right now 11B seems like a (maybe not the) sweet spot for a colony, though I have to admit when enemies invade, I wish I had that ex
Mine shows up as q under SDC, but maybe it's supposed to be a g. Checking for new updates doesn't show up anything else, though. Interestingly, with DA open, the window says 1.80e.
I didn't know you could leave the UP...How?
On the United Planets subscreen of the Foreign Stats screen, in the upper right, there is a button that says "Leave U.P.". You can't ever get back in, though. EVER. And it means you can't have trade routes anymore. I would agree that Terror Stars should be affected by the U.P. starbase module vote. Not to get off topic, but while we're on the subject of Terror S
Impressive. I have to give you credit for playing on maso-even if you normally play higher. I had a more epic comeback than this, in an older version of DA (negative 537 million BC-yes, that's MILLION), but that was only on normal, and I wasn't limited to one planet-thank God. I probably wouldn't have survived due to influence alone had I been. I love how you used the Terrans to kill (nearly) everyone else off first.
I was allied with him, was evil, had all the diplo techs, as well as some other things, uh... Did I mention I fired this game up in cheat mode? Yeah, I basically had -everything- going for me...was testing some other things, and when I was done, I decided to finish out the game with a different kind of bang. What can I say, I like buying their planets. I bought his last planet for about 6.7m, though, again, the second to last planet was a ridiculous length of time as well (al
But then I tested two prerequisite techs, for lack of anything better to do, and it works. I was, to be honest, shocked-but pleased. I'm unsure if three will work, but based on the fact that two does, my guess would be yes. And it doesn't unlock until you have both of them, which is fantastic. Does it display on the tech tree properly too?
Each prerequisite tech specifies that it u
Timed the first one-I was right about one thing, it was more than 30 seconds. About 46-47 seconds, even. Then when I just now bought the Drengin's last planet, it froze up for an entire minute and a half. These planets are costing me about 6-7m and I have about 15m at the time of (each) purchase. Maybe he REALLY wants to keep that planet. Previously, I did not have force AI to use max CPU checked, but I checked it, exited the game, and restarted/reloaded. Further, i
Didn't test DL yet, just DA. Don't know why it wouldn't work in DL as well, though.
DA 1.80e (May also apply to TA; untested.) I love the fact that it tries to calculate how much the AI will pay for a given tech/ship/planet/etc, or how much you have to pay, so we as humans don't have to (because, frankly, a computer can do that MUCH faster). However, someone should probably take a look at that code. It's no big deal if you've only got, say, 2000BC, or even with a couple tens of thousands of BC. I was testing something (using cheat mode) in DA just now, t
