Please excuse our confusion in regards to the versioning of the GalCiv II Beta. We are in the process of staging a private gamma build. But unfortunately we have experienced a few hiccups with syncronizing our servers that appears to becausing many headaches. Because of this problem you are probably seeing a new build available (available 0.090(b).xxx) but there are no files available for download. The current beta version available is 0.81.006 which is the same buil

This hiccup is due to our preparation of getting a private beta available. However we are unable to reproduce the problems you are seeing at the moment. For those who are experiencing this problem can you please let us know what Build number of Stardock Central you are using and what download server you have set (California or Chicago)?

Ad Service Companies go about displaying their ads in many different ways. Sometimes the ads they display are through other ad agencies as well. And sometimes the ads are not hosted on their servers. So because the ads are not always coming from a controlled source its possible that legitimate ad companies will occasionally have undesirable or malicious ads sneak through. We have in some cases already quit using some ad services because of repeat offences.&nbsp

WinCustomize does not support popups/spyware/etc etc. We do have various ads being being displayed through out our site. These ads come from a couple different sources as we uses third party companies to serve ads to our site. On accasion it is possible that an undesirable ad may come through. If we are aware of those ads we contact our ad service agents and have them remove them. So if you do see an ad that causes a popup, or tries to install something l

Now that definitely gives me some more insight to go on. Its definitely possible that the problem is in the main JU code. Now I have a better starting place to look. By the way. I'm posting from the main JU site and not the forums.

Guy, Just to make sure you completely understand how the system works with Watch list. 1) If you are the responder it won't send you an email. 2) If you check a post lets say at X time (like on a Monday) and on Tuesday 4 replies are made and then you check it at Y time (Like on Friday). You will only receive 1 email. This is to prevent your inbox getting bombarded by notifications. Once you re-read the post (on friday) your email sent flag

The notificiation of watched articles does not work all the time. Hmm, this one could be a difficult one. The reason is because the articles are syndicated around to other Stardock websites and not all those websites have the article watch system built into it. So for an example. You are watching a particular article over hear on J

I'm sure I will play with the cache time a bit but I wanted to take it easy since this is my own home grown component. Didn't want to push it too heavily. And once I get code in to update cache when certain actions are performed then I will not have as many reservations about extending the cache time.

Today I created a caching component that allows me to save portions of the website in memory for a period of time. The first area I have chosen to test with my caching component is to cache the right bar data.. When viewing the page for the first time the data is loaded from the database (like normal) but then is inserted into cache for a period of 2 minutes. So for the next two minutes when anyone views your blog your rightbar data will be pulled from cache instead

After a very long absence of doing any work on JoeUser I am turning my attention to JoeUser for the next few days to give it some very much needed tender loving care. I started working on some code optimization in an effort to help speed up the site. I have already implemented several changes that should help improve JU's peformance. And I will continue to to do more updates over the next several days. However, I'm only working on code optimization and I
