I'm in another game and reached a point where most tech trees are researched, only some inconsequential 'research' tree research left so I turned research off in the 'govern' window. I have 50/50 Wealth and Manufacturing but I'm still completing research. This causes a major problem for Ascension victory conditions because there is no guarantee you will or can control enough Crystals in order to win the game before you reach the end of the research tree when play
Your issue is almost certainly this: There is an issue with some tech trees (you don't say which you were using) where some techs do not show up in the non-tree tech selection screen. Switch to the tech tree view and carefully check each branch. I bet you'll find some unresearched techs that way.
Nope, it's certainly not because I checked that prior to po

Thanks for the answer. 1. Didn't work. The problem I have is that I've already researched all techs so there is nothing to be gained by turning it off. What I needed to have done was turn it off on the last tech until I was ready for victory. 2. I'm fairly certain that would only take affect on a new game and, no offence, before I start poking around in XML files I'd like a more definitive answer.

Patch: 1.2 Map size: Insane Faction: Custom Victory condition: Ascension Basically I am unable to progress because the game is asking me to research when I have no research left to conduct. I have bought what I can from the remaining races (rest were wiped out earlier in the game). Now here's the peculiar thing. I finished the tech tree a considerable amount of time ago, all of a sudden it's just occured and going back to prior saves has

Civ games are completely different to Sins. If you want comparable games to Sins then you need to look at games like Homeworld and Hegemonia, both of which had story driven campaigns as well as skirmish modes, what the OP calls "sandbox" games. Homeworld (and expansions/sequals) also had a vibrant multiplayer community. The problem with Sins is it begins to tell a story then promptly ignores this story in favour of an online multiplayer expereince. This is not neccessarily a bad thing,

Since the new forums where deployed (or whatever it was that was recently done), when I click reply, the right hand side of the boxes are off the table of the webpage. Furthermore, the text style/size drop downs are misplaced and aligned downwards therefore covering the first line of the reply box. Is anyone else having these issues and if so, how do I fix it, please?

I downloaded this game via digital download and didn't realise I actually had a manual because it's stashed away in the directory for the game with no obvious indications that it exists. This is a new game and in many respects, we're all still noobs. If we can't stick together and help each other out then there is no hope for this community and it will have a direct knock on effect to the game. So please, go easy on people asking "dumb" questions because whilst the answer might

It depends. Early on in the game when I'm clearing panets of local malitia to conolise them the Cap ship brings all its weapons to bear. Later in the game when your cap ships are part of a fleet, its long range weapons are brought to bear because usually I'm hitting other Cap ships from maximum range and my Cruisers and Frigates are doing the close up combat. So it really just depends upon the circumstances of the combat.
Hello! How can I create crews for my capital ships?? Rudeness is IMO completely excusable when someone asks a question that could be easily answered in the manual or a few seconds on Google. I mean the first hit on Google if you search for "sins more capital crews" answers this question.
Rudeness is never excusable.
Just to add to this, the bug is much more serious. Whilst the purchase price is 0 credits, the sell price is -2.1 bn - yup, that's negative 2.1 billion credits. Effectively as nice as the change is for defences and Cap ships, the black market is out of commission.
a broad based discussion topic for imbalances in need of sore fixing. after a week and a half this sort of discussion needs to be opened. perhaps the most prolific is the one we should start out with 1) siege frigates kill planets too quickly, even in small groups they can annihilate a 3000 health planet before a fleet of ships 2 or 3 jumps away can react. even with the health decrease they can do too much damage too quickly. You might be able to ping basic commands but that's hardly helpful when you're already engaged half a map away and by the time the AI actually gets there your fleet has either been wiped out and/or your Planet destroyed. Take Alpha Centuari, an 8 year old game this year. That has a far superior diplomacy ability than Sins does almost a decade later. It allows you to co-ordinate attacks on cities with the AI before you attack, not once you're engaged. Sins seems to be suffering from an ide

I'd like to see an AI partner/s that actually work. You rarely get assistance when needed and there is no way to co-ordinate attacks when playing with an AI team mate. Quite frankly the AI teams are a total waste of space and development time and need some serious love to make them worth while otherwise there is just no incentive to play single player on the larger maps. Diplomacy is also broken to the point of uselessness. When playing with unlocked teams, unless i'm seriously missing

It's not just the economy I'm finding the AI not suffering penalties from. They have superior Social and Military production and can pump out Conolly ships like no tomorrow. As I said before, I've played on fool and normal and both within the first 40 turns will have two to three times the space I have unless I'm very, very lucky with my auto-survey which allows me to churn out conolisation ships of my own. Every single race researches faster than the player and so after around 200 turns, I'm ju
