I've just come across a bit of shareware called 'SystrayX', i'm going to see how it performs over a couple of days, but it looks like this could be just the right bit of software i've been looking for, you can bring up your 'System tray' as a menu on the desktop using a hotkey combination.
Hello Bichur, i've been using this version, and it doesn't work properly (see my last post), i just need some simple app/utility that will allow me access to the systray icons from somewhere else other than the windows OS taskbar, somthing i can place as a docklet on OD 1.9plus regards
Just for info, i've had to remove 'Objectdock Tray 2', i've been running it all day and it's been effecting the main 'Objectdock 1.9 plus' application, making OD and Windows XP sp2 crash, it's a shame because it's just what i was looking for, this is how i'd like the 'Systray' to be shown, i don't like the way OD 1.9 plus does it in the settings, if you have alot of items in your systray, all 'Dockets' size becomes reduced, and icons that are low quality really show badly. just to let anyone know, i created the 'Tray' folder in the location address above, and followed as instructed to add the 'OB Tray' docklet, it seems to be working, only thing is, as the docklet gets bigger i've found it's difficult to hover over a relivant running 'systray icon' to right clik on that service, maybe there's a way for that docket to be locked in the large view when the mouse rolls over it? regards
I'm using ObjectDock 1.9plus, and have found i didn't like how the system tray was handled, so i read the forum and come across this addon 'ObjectDock Tray v2' I don't know weather it's still fully compatible with my OD version, but i want to give it a go anyway. I've gone to the download website, but i don't understand where i should be putting the extracted file, as i can't find a 'Tray' folder to put it in, do i need to create it in C:\Program Files\Stardock\ObjectDock\Do

Thanks for all the replies, funny you suggested that DockofAges ("Try running IE from the Start Menu and see what happens"), i found out i had to do it this way when i first used OD and needed updates, i would manage to get the updates from Microsoft's website, but lately i've had to completely quit OD for Windows update to work, maybe it's as you say, activating IE through OD's own internet icon is no good for IE7. I have also noticed a difference when using the satnav update software
Hello Members I found that running ObjectDock at the sametime as using IE and going to the windows update website makes IE freeze at the point just when the scan had finish, showing you which updates Windows XP pro needs, if you 'quit' the dock Windows Update runs normally.. ....has anyone got an answer, i try all the obvious things prior to quiting ObjectDock 1.90plus (empty IE cache, temps history), but found this was the only way i could use Microsoft's website service, i prosume

Thanks, i have just now notice one strange thing, i thought i'd go to the windows update via www.microsoft.com -> Security & updates -> updates link, the page kept erroring out with a Microsoft warning and this 'Error number: 0x800A01B6' i havn't added or changed anything in my firewall, or loaded anything onto the computer for ages other then ObjectDock plus 1.9, i did the same through Avantbrowser and Firefox with the same effect. Hello Members I've been running ObjectDock plus (1.9) for a few days now, and i do like the look and feel of it, the perform is pretty good so far, there are some things i hope will be inproved in future versions i.e System tray handling at the main dock with more options on how they could appear, and the taskbar not shown even during the building of the desktop during bootup. Thanks to you both for the suggestions , Koasati i followed the instructions and that's exactly what i was looking for, the only thing i'd like to now do is change the style of icon used for this folder, and find something more in keeping with Objectdock's other graphics. I'll have a search for other suitable icons in the download sections. thanks again
