Point well taken. I don't know what part of my brain had forgotten actual debugging. Up way too late last night. DirectX under virtual environments Virtualpc or VMWare is one of those edge cases. The environment wasn't designed to support accelerated hardware in the vm clients so performance tends to be suboptimal and some scenarios simply aren't viable. I'm curious if it'll meet Brad's needs.

No need to be testing in a virtual environment, with XPM all one would need to do is drop the build on a share mapped to the host(Win7) and then Brad could easily test in Win7 with no DirectX issues. Code, Build & Test all on one physical machine easily. Piece of cake. Virtual rocks :) Longest part of the setup will be loading and patching vs2003. Off topic but totally geeky virtualization <a href="http://blogs.msdn.com/b/virtual_pc_guy/ar

Brad, No doubt you've found this already but... http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/bb188244.aspx XPM should work for you. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx Then install vs2003 on the xp image.

I think you'll find that find that Brad has already answered that question here . The answer is no. The game is inspired by Master of Magic not Total War. There is a whole thread flogging this issue. It certainly isn't going to happen in the near term.

[quote who="ElanaAhova" comment="106"]I ahve many thoughts about how to 'fine tune' EWOM (elemental war of magic). However, before I can intelliegently interact with themany fine comments i have read in this forum, I need to get my cd copy of ewom updated with current patches. Still playing v1.0 (very buggy = dragon never joins when egg returned, many graphic glitches, ctd, cannot load saved game unless first exiting program totally, first, advanced spell books never appear even w

After giving up way too much of my life reading this thread. I want to applaud Brad for his conmmon sense and Kryo for careful, cogent engagement. At this point the only contribution that seems worth making is the following from a group of wise (now) old men... excerpt from The Argument Clinic: A: Come in. M: Ah, Is this the right room for an argument? A: I told you once. M: No you haven't. A: &nb

Point of Order! er, I mean Pedantry.... (Comes from trying get Sages for the Empire. I obviously spent too much time researching) [quote who="kyogre12" reply="26" id="2673639"] -.. "Anyways" is also a word that doesn't exist. Not a Typo. It's that what I said? When I said "using a word taht doesn't exist" I was refering to "anyways" not my typo of "be" instead of "me." As in, I was criticizing Brad's use of a word that doesn't exist, not his gr

Great interview. It's really cool to hear about how you guys built out your platform. One of the things I love about Impulse is that it just works. My games are always there when I want them on whatever machine I'm using and the updates just flow. I do fail to understand the animus towards Silverlight. It installs and runs without an issue on every machine I've ever used. I watched the Summer and Winter Olympics using it and If I remember correctly, I watched a couple of Su

Tiberstorm, I think you jumped the gun a bit. Chammy called it correctly. DartSock.dll is part of a software library made by Dart Communications, http://www.dart.com. It is a common and legitimate library that supports socket communications over tcp. It is essentially a plumbing library for network communication. The anti-spyware tool you are using is being overzealous. (In fact, it is wrong in this instance.) While a particular piece of spyware may use the DartSock.dll, that does
