I did an interview with Bob Smith, the guy behind Armada 2526. You can read it here .

Wow! Some nice shots in this thread. It never ceases to amaze me how much graphical glitz IC managed to incorporate into their game without demanding every PC gamer upgrade their rigs. If only more game companies would follow IC/Stardocks lead.....
That is an interesting idea but I think it would ruin the whole bidding war mechanic. I mean, after spending all that money to outbid a foe who wants the pirates to attack me, it would really be annoying to have my foe cancel the attack on him by a second round of one-party negotiations. Why even bid at all? I just think it would make hiring pirates all too uncertain to be worth the money.
For Sins 2, the whole planetary system needs to be looked at. I want to see planets become more interesting in general, not just in terms of defense, but in development, too. A seperate tech tree of planetary development would be a good place to start. It could include habitation, defense, even political techs to research. And while they're at it, add some sort of ground war invasion option, too. It's such a big list of possible changes that it needs another majo
It is completely worth it. Completely! If you want to see a little about Entrenchment, you can check out my illustrated AAR here .
This is a great idea! It would definitely add to the immersion! I tell ya, with all the great ideas that have been posted for this game over the last year and a half, Sins 2 is going to rock! [e digicons][/e]
I love the picture with the the pewter markers on the map. I am one of the few people still disappointed that TW moved away from the original 'tabletop' map view with markers to the "realistic" strategic map. [e digicons]>:([/e] Leave it to SD to bring back a great idea! BTW: The worst (i.e. scariest) spider is the Camel Spider (albeit, technically it is not a spider).
Winter 2010? Gulp! I'd thought we would see it much sooner than that. [e digicons]:pout:[/e] At least we'll have Elemental to keep us busy in the mean time (I hope!). [e digicons]:time:[/e]
This whole disclosure about the effect of dynatic politics in the game is what has caught my attention. Prior to that, I wasn't all that interested in Elemental, but now I can't wait! I guess part of the reason is that so many medieval games focus strictly on building things and killing the other factions. Sure, that can be fun, but I always wanted a game that provided equal focus on court intrique and personality. Crusader Kings tried this successfully, but that game
Actually, I want an evil race to fight against. But a race that fails to "embrace change" isn't exactly something that raises my ire. [e digicons]^_^[/e]
It's funny that you mention that because I was having related thoughts after reading The Fallen's description: Of The Fallen When the powers strove for dominance before the cataclysm, some felt that men were too random and too unpredictable to be of use to them. Some of these powers selected men of cunning, brutality and might. They created an “improved” or “idealized” version of men that came to be know
No multiplayer in X3TC, though you would never know it. [e digicons]^_^[/e]
Chess, of course. [e digicons]^_^[/e] But I've suddenly become addicted to X3: Terran Conflict. I'm pretty happy with myself since capturing my first craft, a Hermes freighter (left). Now I just need to save enough money to move on up from my starter El
Sword of the Stars vanilla had a bunch of frustrating issues. But with three expansions under its belt (the most recent is Argos Naval Yard), the game is definitely worth playing ( review ). Personally, I am constantly cycling between GalCiv II, Sins and SotS. Each has something to make it stand out from the others. Now, if only someone could figure out a way to merge all three together.... [e digicons]:
Definitely like this idea of random events. It would go a long way to make every game of Sins different from the last. As for the list of possible RE candidates...brilliant! [e digicons][/e] While it would be fun to be able to influence these events with tech tree research or some other action, the simple incorporation of them would be good enough for me. Maybe we'll see this in the third expansion?
Very nice AAR! Looking forward to reading more from you!
Been meaning to finish this AAR. [e digicons][/e] Well, after a long struggle, the WAR IS OVER! My brave Advent people triumphed over the Armada! [e digicons][/e] Key to our victory was the capture of the central stellar hub of the star system. As the enemy was using it to strike at many of our core worlds, it became imperative that we shut down this nexus and deny him his freedom of movement. With that in mind, a small contingent of cruise
What? No Prototype? [e digicons]8C[/e] I am looking forward to that game next week. Not too crazy about third-person action games, but Prototype looks like wicked fun.
The last word from Frogboy is that the second expansion is still on, but delayed until late summer.
Yea can't say that I have any games on my watch list anymore.
Yeah, I'm still awaiting the first game of 2009 to really wows me. Empire: TW is the only noteworthy new game so far, but its initial release was so beset by bugs that it lost points in my book. And, frankly, once you get past the musketry and naval battles, it just becomes another TW iteration. I'm still looking for a fresh and engaging new title.
I'm not much into third-person action games that often seem more at home on consoles than on PCs, but I've got to admit that this game looks like a blast: Prototype Initially, the mention that NYC gets infected with zombies caught my attention. Then I learned that the game has a sort of open sandbox mode of play - that really caught my attention because I love free roaming games. Finally, this preview makes
I would like to see ground invasions too, but I think Sins would have to take it in a new direction for it to work in a RTS environment. Most 4X space games have planetary invasions occur very quickly - the troops invade and either they win or they dont; it is resolved almost instantaneously. I think Sins, because it is a RTS game that needs to avoid micromanagement like the plague, needs to have lenghty invasions. In other words, give the defender plenty of time to react an
In my last campaign, I chose the Advent because I love to play races with a religous or spiritual motivation. Be it the Advent, Amarr, or Space Marines, this old-school Roman Catholic loves factions with religious motivations. [e digicons]O:)[/e]
Hey Sinners is Sword of the stars game easier to play then say X3 terran conflict or Eve on line as far as controls and do the company that created the game supports their game as well as the mad men that created Sins of a solar empire?
You really can't compare those games as they are of a different genre. SotS is like Sins, or Total War for that matter, as it is all about conquest on a galactic sca
Darn it! I thought this was a Chess thread....[e digicons];P[/e]
