It isn't a beast, it sucks. Last night I finally got a game after HOURS of trying (multiplayer), got a starbase into my enemy's planet, it actually finished building (amazingly enough), and his minimal fleet came in and destroyed it quickly. Yes, I had my fleet there to protect it - it didn't do any good. My teammate put a TEC starbase in a neutral well to protect the mines he took. His opponent came in with just a few carriers set to bombers. They took his starb

"Old version of Sins detected. Be sure you have the latest update." I get this message today when trying to get online with Entrenechment to play multiplayer. Thing is, my version is already updated to the latest, and I played multiplayer with it last night. Furthermore, it says version 1 of Entrenchment. It's the right version. Anybody else have this problem? Anybody know the solution?
you've described essentially the only situation where sieges can be deployed succesfully. coming in behind a fleet to finish off helpless planets in empty grav wells. they're glorified corpse collectors whose only real purpose is to bury the dead.
Interestingly enough, that's exactly the role I always thought the siege frig should fill before I even played the game. It's intuitive, it works, it makes sense, it's balanced, etc. I can't really make sense of an

I didn't suggest a buff to capships, not one time. What I would like to see, however, is a reason to build them more (right now, I don't have a reason). I have a suggestion to create that reason, and it doesn't involve buffs. Make it so that every time you "fleet up" to the next level you must buy another cap first. Or, maybe every other time. Or, starting with the second "fleet up." Whatever. Basically, you'd be forced to buy additional caps at som
When you really want these to work, you make at least 2 of them and have 3 repair bays near them. Serious. And that is just to slow the enemy down enough so your fleet can get some kills.
Yes, basically they suck. Even when buffed from when the game first game out (which was UBER-suck).
Again, you're talking about the old siege frigate.
Of course I'm talking about the old siege frigate. That's the whole point.
Just for future reference, that's not the meaning of hysteresis.
I beg to differ. I work as a paid engineer, with other engineers (3 master's level, 5 or 6 ph.d level), and they (we) all use the word in the manner I use it - in fact we are all paid to use the term in that capacity. Of course, that
Rather than going on in this endless circle of one of us saying they're useless and need a buff, and you saying that if anything they should be nerfed more, how about addressing my key points. To convince me of your position, you'll have to convince me that these concepts are somehow flawed:
I said that I was at this point out of the debate, and dropping my opposition to buffing the siege frigate.
Let's say as a result of the discussions carriers got over-nerfed to hell to the point that they were never even researched anymore. If people started asking for them to be rebalanced to a useful level, would you scream at them like an old war vet about how it USED to be so terrible, oh dear GOD the carrier spam was AWFUL, you don't KNOW what it used to be like back then!
If the carrier got over-nerfed, I'd ask for it to be
Hurting your economy more than having to build that many seige frigates? They are ~2 mil labs + research + ~15 fleet points each.
Dude, what do you know about this topic? Apparently nothing. You apparently weren't around in the early days of this game - it's just obvious. Yes, oh my God siege frigates would hurt the other guy's economy WAY more than you throwing down a few labs and doing research and building the damn things by the tonnage. Th

To be honest, the amount of micro needed to be "good" at this game turns me off. If I wanted to play an arcade game, I'd go play pacman or something. I think it was a mistake for the developers to even allow micro with certain ships like strikecraft.

14 Replies 9,147 Views

The game is already complex enough anyway - there is no need to add additional complexity. People can't micro the units they have, and you want to introduce interceptors? I'm guessing most people can't properly use the units they already have (including the OP, and including myself). Adding interceptors will simply be adding more micro that has to be done. Actually, you want to lose more often to "skilled" or "pro" players? Then introduce the interceptor. T

I recommend proceeding with caution, and executing small "baby step" nerfs if nerfs are to be forthcoming. Especially since there were recent nerfs to carriers in Entrenchment (which will need some play-testing before anything futher is done?). This is coming from a guy who just got beat AGAIN (just now) on multiplayer by what seemed to me to be another very mediocre opponent, again with the restriction that I would not build carriers. He of course built quite a bit of the

Okay, I've tried to register on their stupid forums 10 times in order to ask this question, but their stupid web site will never send me an email with the activation, so I can't log on and post my question. So I figured I'd try it here. I'd like to get the game, but my system does not meet the stated minimum requirements. Their minimum requirements says 3 point something GHz, I only have a 1 point something. Their minimum says 1 gig I think of memory, I have less.&nb
Your definition of OP is so far beyond what (I believe) anyone is claiming. If carriers were OP to that extent, then the pros would be carrier spamming.
Pros do carrier spam. I'm not saying they all do it exclusively, under all circumstances. But they do it. Of course, I agree this still doesn't mean carriers are OP.
What bugs me even more is the fact, that converting a Vasari colonizing frigate doesn't give me the ability to build a Vasari starbase.
And...
Oh, and most importantly: converting a TEC or Vasari Starbase builder should give Advents the ability to build a TEC or Vasari starbase
Ridiculous. You have to do 2 tiers of research on the Vasari tech tree and 3 tiers of research on the TEC tree in order to build either of those units.

Please do not buff the siege frigate. Siege frigates should be made of paper. If anything, they are still too tough (they shouldn't be any tougher than a scout). If they are buffed, any "reasonable" defenses around a planet will not stop them. The game will be broken, just like it was when it first came out.

Watched the game you posted. I could not make sense of your gameplay AT ALL. 49 minutes into the game you had still not built a fleet, meanwhile the guy next door had 15 illuminators at least, plus some drone hosts, and was attacking you. Then I finally realized WHY I couldn't make sense of your gameplay. The replay was screwed, LOL (crashed at the 50th minute). Maybe when replays get fixed we can see you beat some carriers.
