A guy with a forum nick "Starscream" was complaining about a Vasari dialogue that was voiced by the same actor who did Starscream in the Transformers movie. Delicious irony
lol, I remember that...
LOL that's really funny! But you forgot the part where some random dude walks in and tries to post something witty but fails since he didn't read anything that was said past the first line!
Lol, sorry about that. Couldn't resist, but I was definitely baiting. Mea culpa. Sigol, I did read every line. I actually agree with you and Drex that DoTA recipes, while baroque, have added to DoTA gameplay. I also tend to agree with Random_Guy that t

I don't have access to the article right now, but the flavor was the interviewer confirming that no Demigod would be able to control any allied creeps on the map. Tyo's response was about how the DGs would be deep and polished, rather than cheap and shallow. The lack of disagreement seems like an indication that the "General" model talked about in previous journals is obsolete. Confirmation one way or the other is always good, at least when th

my impressions of this derail: A: "I'm an Angry Internet Man and Recipes are easy, unless you are a complete eejit" B: "No they aren't" A: "Yes they are" B: "Fine. Recipes are easy. We've come up with even easier methods for doing the same thing recipes do. How does that make you feel?" A: "Recipes are easy" B: "Right, we got that. What if we made things even easier? What if recip

I took 'racing' to mean racing tower defense style, competing to get to enemy base first... As TBO says, sounds like you guys are backing off of generals and just going straight assassins? And no, painting a target a la Bioshock doesn't count as RTS :P Peace

sorry to necro the thread, just got to reiterate how nice it would be to have a Free Action item. I don't mind stuns as long as they have counters...Right now any team that knows how to tandem-stun is going to win in a team game, and this is old news...

@ Trigeminal: If I understand Warlok's idea, it would be a bit like Darwinia in that the orders you give to your creeps would become available only as you level. Skill tree would include creep commands like "attack," "move," and "guard" and would cost mana. The idea is pretty novel, but I'm not sure it applies in this setting. Maybe if you were looking at controlling all nearby allied creeps, not just the uniques you command normally, or if all demis started as ass

Hmmm, I could see *some variation* of this ability adding a bit of depth to the game, personally. Attach it to a flag, when you cap the flag all of your buildings are given +3 hp regen per second, or 10% more hp, etc. I'm not sure I follow the whole "bland, vanilla" argument, unless the objection is against healing in general (which is present in alot of games, so must be vanilla? Actually, so is dealing damage, now that you mention it). If you are objecting to the way the

nuke build on UB is good in some cases, but plateaus at level 15. If you can't kill a skilled opponent with 2000 damage immediately he's not going to stand around and wait for your nukes to cool down. I find nukes work best in team games - coming up on to DGs who are already hurt and finishing them off. DPS build on UB is weak early against other DGs but good for levelling, and after level 10 in a 1 v 1 it's unstoppable. There's a thread on UB vs TB here: http://

Alot of times someone suggests an ability or mechanic on these forums and it gets shut down because it doesn't fit into the game we've been given. The thing is that if the ability is good enough and adds enough to gameplay it should be in the game, regardless of whether we can find it in the LUA files or the listed demigods. This will be more relevant in Beta 2, but it's good to look at ideas and see how they *could* work. The easiest way to do this is simply to attach t

my UB recipe against Torch goes something like this - I've left out artifacts since they are broken Max out Bestial Wrath, Inner Beast, and Stats in that order, and don't forget Foul Grasp. Don't put points in anything else, because you don't need them. Wrath should let you farm creeps better than TB, even if he can hurt you better early. That's ok, you won't kill him much (unless he sucks) before level 10, so just keep farming and don't get greedy.&nbs

I'm not playing against AI, I'm playing against good players online, Saturday and Sunday mornings (EST).
There should not be a better speccing. If so why give us the choice if anyone is taking the always same "better" path?
Really? As Unclean Beast I'm not going to beat a spellcaster 1 v 1 using Ooze and Plague and Spit, although all of those abilities can be really useful against creeps, in team play, or against different demigods. I don't thi

Playing as a direct-damage UB I haven't yet lost a game 1 v 1 against Torchbearer. TB might get a couple of kills in up to level 10, but UB levels more quickly and does alot more damage at high levels. If TB is sniping I usually just avoid him and teleport-ambush for the two-hit kill when he messes with my buildings. TB can't do the same to me when I start destroying his towers, and late game his stronghold goes down in less than a minute. Wagnard - you might have pr

It's been brought up before (innociv's synergy post, I think) but I really like the idea of Torchburner being able to follow an ice ability with a fire ability for additional damage/effect or vice versa. The more combos you can put in between skills and between demis the more engaging this game will be. It would be cool as well if each demi could counter the effects of it's own class, so a fire TB would have a chance to thaw out allies frozen by an enemy TB, an Unclean Beast wou

- The game isn't coming out in February - Even in 1.0 and 1a there is a big difference between one player who knows what they are doing and one player who doesn't. This stacks exponentially when you get a team who knows what's up vs. one that doesn't. Sorta like playing a pub game of COD4 and saying that you can kill a bunch of people, so there isn't much difference between a nub and a pro. - Also, the disclaimer is a nice touch, but maybe you should wait until Bet

So let me get this straight: you want us to think of...new and novel abilities...for the *same* demigods? as Striker says, by the time you get giants and game starts to lag each team should be allowed to destroy one of the bottleneck towers that creates the problem. I've also seen giants glitch at the base shops as well, but that seems to be less common. Unless the devs feel like hotfixing this one we'll just have to muddle through...
