Ok, so I'm going a little stir-crazy waiting for the next patch. Please excuse: The wind is cold, colder than it had ever been when I had my wings. I try not to think about it. It's not as easy as it should be, as the nubs of what once defined me still bleed, slowly. I am accompanied across this bridge by the soft patter of blood on stone. Tap tap tap, a steady beat to which I can walk on muscled legs and calloused feet.

Nights Edge - There is an item available in the Consumable Shop which allows you to lock a flag you own for five minutes, during which your opponent's cannot cap the flag. Currently this is considered by many to be a broken or incomplete mechanic, as the item is very cheap but can have great consequences. OP - points 1 and 2 do alot to address the current problems with locking. I personally find the previously discussed "weighted locking" idea simpler (i.e. a
incidentally, after talking and playing Reg with DalzK I see the strength of slightly modifying a Regulus Stats build by investing the first point in Snipe. It makes Regulus much stronger tactically than he would be on a straight stats build before level 10, especially when contesting flags or finishing demis.
I have a Q9300 @2.55 Ghz, 4850, 2 gigs DDR3 1066 RAM, Vista 64, onboard sound, new drivers for all. 30 minutes into 2 v 2, many units on battlefield, I channel a teleport with low health, game freezes, though chat is still available. Other players screen freezes after mine, then game dumps us and "Unhandled Exception' text pops up, as follows: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at address 0x008be651 attempted to read memor

lifekatana - easy, killer - he didn't mean any harm
Personally I kinda like the idea of a demigod, (probably not Rook) who has the function of engineering and shoring up defenses a la the Engineer in TF2. Unfortunately, competitive gameplay sort of precludes strong turtling gameplay, so I doubt this will make it into multiplayer but it appeals to the Sim City in me :P That said, GCFL, don't get discouraged, just because it doesn't quite work in one form doesn't mean it won't evolve into something viable. new builds edited in, thanks. Keep them coming Kestrel
I think Kyrein misunderstood and thought you meant Demigod's Beta, Sorceresss. Not-MOM shouldn't be available for pre-order any time soon.
Yeah but see if you're against people who might be good, or you don't know how good they are, you might not want to risk helping them reach level 7 by the time you're only lvl 4 or 5 because of all the xp you fed them. A level 7 rook can start eating up all your towers if we knows what he's doing.
I agree with you in theory, Innociv, but I've never actually seen it play out this way. Usually in my experience if you win the flag in the beginning you keep
I don't use splash much, verspunken, but if you have a good splash build/usage please post it. How do you start, beta players? What builds do you use? What items give you the edge you need?
meta-stats would be very cool. At least a basic chart (Kinda hard to go back once you've seen TF2, no?): Most kills as Rook: 498, Most heals as Sedna: 5784, etc.
Actually if you lock the flag at the start all you're doing is giving your enemy more XP. It's best to wait until catapultasaurs come, not until then does the war idol matter.
I don't really like locking the flag early, but I do like the xp capping it gives. Nice to cap it, let the enemy sit on it til it's neutral, and chase them off to cap for more xp. I find the spawn xp farming off the center flag is pretty low til cats anyway, a
incredibly stable, no fatal errors at all. Nice work, devs XD
Why am I making a Strategy post? After all, this is a straight engine test - Beta 1a. Seems pointless to make a thread on strategy when the elements underpinning that strategy will be constantly in flux from here out, not to mention bugs and exploits, right? Here's my rationale - the elements of gameplay will shift dynamically, but the premise of the game will not. Additionally, by compiling our thoughts on what build, strategy, or tactic works we
O man, new stuff this month! Psyched, thanks Frogboy... [e digicons][/e]
1. The devs are looking at this, as it was mentioned in another post 2. why not? 3. You lose both gold and experience when you die, because you don't earn any while you are waiting to rez
something interesting in the shacknews interview was that Frogboy said "8-10 demigods" not "8 demigods." I wonder if this is a case of promising less and delivering more? I guarantee that if devs confirmed 10 demis in early Beta people would be complaining it wasn't 12. Confirming 8 means everbody would be happy to get 10 :P Can I get a wink wink, nudge nudge, devs, or does this still qualify as speculation? Also, something to bear in mind about DoTA is
So after further testing I don't feel the combination is overpowered, and the Scroll of Warping is acting per design. That is all.
it's not currently in game, Iprometheus. Innociv mocked this one up with photoshop :P I like this idea a bunch, and the implementation is very smooth PS - Innociv - your posts have changed remarkably in tone and thoughtfulness since Sins - keep it up!
the cast time on the Scroll of Warping is really low. In fact, I though it was instant port. The fact that it uses mana doesn't really negate its power-to price ratio, unless you insist on playing as TB (i.e. this won't effect a stats build at all). Having one cooldown item which allows radius porting would be fine, it's the existence of two that really starts to be a problem. Incidentally the Wand of Elusiveness does have other bonus effects, but they would be negligible
Apologies if this is a known issue or functioning as intended: The $2,200 teleport scroll available in the consumable shop acts like the Wand of Elusiveness available from the Artifact shop. It is not consumed on use, has a 30 second cooldown, and allows instant blink within a given radius of the demigod. I don't think it offers the stat bonus the artifact does, but it seems way too useful for its price given that it doesn't disappear after a use or three. If
AFAIK the $2,200 consumeable scroll works as a Blink (instant teleport, medium range, 30 second cooldown) and never gets consumed. I'm assuming it's a Beta 1 bug, but if you line this up with the Wand of Elusiveness you can blink every 15 seconds (even less if you have Abraham's Helm, which reduces cooldowns). All those complaints about overpowered rooks actually have some validity when he can blink in front of your poor fleeing demi and hammer him - then blink out again a few sec
as an aside to what ppipp says: as a stat/equipment-based Regulus, at half health I'm perfectly happy to take on a Regulus specced any other way at full health, because I will beat them. It's great, because they usually are so flabberghasted they don't retreat :D I'll put this in the full report later, but all of Reg's early direct skills need help. Personally, I'd love to see his snipe ability get secondary bleed DoT, and the stun mines scrapped completely. Put incr
