I don't see ... portal runs at level 7/8 a very good idea or OP. It's a cold day in hell when you're alone enough to walk all the way to the portal against good players. If I'm laned mana side against an Oak I follow him like a puppy dog. He isn't walking away from me and if he wants to do Shield III abuse bullshit, that's his 250 gold: not mine. I never port on him and I don't shop unless he shops.
It's a valid point, I PUG mostly so things are more disor

Just to reach back a bit to what LK and Hedgie and Epi are saying about Shield III - i.e. if you don't mess up then you don't need it. 1. The ability is OP in Cata portal locking. If you aren't playing by house rules that forbid it then I don't understand how you can avoid getting it at 7 or 8, because it's such a threat. I'd like to see Stun-Immunity come in at Shield IV or V rather than III, or even just lessen duration of Shield III to 5 seconds, but with the game

Really good micro tips, thanks Epi
Kestrel, that was my minion build. You guys clearly won that round, although I feel like that had more to do with your better coordination than with the merits of either of our builds.
I blame Renzokuken, I certainly wasn't doing much that game ^^ My impression is that 1v1 you could push me off a flag every time and just crushed towers, and in team battles the hybrid's staying power won out for the kill.
I would recommend getting Nimoths & plenor before unbreakables though. The additional health + armor seems to be more effective in a fight and the additional mana + regen of plenor is quite effective too. Adding unbreakables after those are purchased is just a bit of icing.
It's a tossup for me between Unbreakable and Plenor. I sometimes need the mana more than the health, but I don't usually need Nimoth until a bit later in play unless I'm consistently ta

The meta has shifted quite a bit since I posted my first Hybrid build here . Since then it's become important to get Shield III at level 7-8 so that you can lockdown enemy portals without fear of interruption. That makes it hard to cram Spirits/minions into an effective Oak build before level 10, and most games are decided by that point. So I'm going to post my WIP Hybrid Oak build with a caveat, as fo

1. Snipe Reg is the most viable build I've found for high-level play, and it only works under a given set of circumstances. Just to reiterate, you don't stack health on this build. Here's how it plays out . 2. Reg, like more than half of the DGs, is a specialist. You don't roll him unless you know exactly what you are doing and are countering or matching a given set of DGs or are confident you will win
No matter what character you play, YOU NEED HEALTH.
No. Stacking HP is only important for DGs who lose HP, and not even all of those
Sure, you can support your teammates with snipe, but the damage isn't great. Best case scenario, you can force a competent player to back off the flag, let himself heal, then take the flag back. If he can't take the flag back, grats, your teammate didn't really need your help.
You can take 15-20% of you

AF Reg works pretty well in duel situations against given DGs or players (I've seen PeterDumptruck's Minion Erb struggle against AF, for example) and a long time ago I think I saw a decent QoT/AF Reg team on Prison. I suppose you could make a case for Speed AF/Maim builds on a long-lane map like Crucible or Leviathan. In a typical 3v3 Cata though? I haven't seen it. I guess you could play it as a Hail Mary and it would go something like this: <p

I say Blood>Renewal just because DA gets into the middle of things earlier and much more often than Reg or TB or even Rook, and once he's within melee if his team doesn't control he goes down so quickly even with Blood and Sigil Sedna isn't perfect, but through midgame a bramble on DA is tops. Shield III is the ideal solution, but you could say that for any DG edit: didn't we play a game where you were QOT and I was DA and you were complaining early that it was a terr

since we are talking DA, even if in jest, I thought I'd comment here rather than make a new post 1. You need an allied Oak, Sedna, or QoT to back you up because you will be primary target and even popping sigils like candy (which you should) you will go down fast 1a. If you don't have an Oak, Sedna, or QoT and you don't know your team well then you shouldn't be playing DA any more than you would TB, Reg, or QoT, just because unless perfectly supported DA sorta suck

ok so builds are good, I like to see builds, but what I'm really looking for is an idea of what Rook is doing early, mid, and late game i.e. mana or forti? At what point should I have an enemy tower down? When should I work on portal towers? Dying isn't a problem, I'm not feeding much at all, but I get their tower down, get my farm set up, and then I stall out. Just don't know what I'm supposed to do after that.. Any thoughts would be helpful, and if you have

So I've been playing some Rook lately and liking it, but where I'm getting some basic builds and exposure boundaries I can't help thinking I'm missing the bigger picture. I'm losing games as Rook that I know I would win as one of my mains. So what I'd really appreciate from all you Rook players out there is some helpful outlines of what I should be doing as Rook at every stage of a typical 2v2-3v3 Cata, and replays that illustrate your points would be really cool, to
In your ebola case you likely have actual physical proof of the ebola strain. In the GW case you have warming, but linking that warming to any one (or a thousand) different conditions has not been proven.
Actually for the first several days Ebola is often mistaken for malaria, typhoid, or the flu, and the set of tests developed for it until very recently have had high false positive variability. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geographic_Information_Scien

@ Frogboy - good book. As I remember it really brought home for me how fragile our place on this world and in this universe is. If a majority group of epidemiologists published findings that implied a strain of airborne Ebola was surfacing in Michigan would you really talk about how scientific consensus has often proved wrong, historically? From a historical perspective the price of being wrong is exquisitely low relative to the price of being right but ignored, and
