Not a modder (but I luv playin um); just a 15 yr veteran of the PC gaming industry and I believe mods like those in development for SOSE will give this game long-term staying power as well as expand the potential market for an expansion and the inevitable SOSE 2. I don't expect the developers to bend over backwards and touch their noses to the floor BUT a little assistence re HardCode limits would go a long way in ensuring the durability of an otherwise great game. Just my 2 cents.

Brad and SD Folks, Thanks for taking the extra time to put a polished product in the hands of the gaming community. Folks sometimes forget how they rant when they drop $50 on some half-baked turd that's not even playable until the third patch. It's nice to see a publisher/developer care enough about the product and the fanbase to spend an extra week of long days (and nights) refining what is already a very playable game (beta).

Agreed DANMAN - I think Kreyson needs to be worked into 7 Deadly because he has the right idea of modding SOASE capital ships into real CAPITAL SHIPS. Capital ships are a huge investment for an empire. They should be expensive, few in number, extremely powerful, and carefully defended.

The AI races and factions are forever extorting money, metal, and crystal from me in turn for improved relations. When I am in a position of power, is there anyway I can demand money, etc from them???

As kryo says. As an early adopter you are paying a premium to be the first kid on the block playing. If I buy C&C3 Kane's Wrath the day it launches, I'll pay full price. If I wait for 2-3 weeks, I'll get somewhere for $10 less. It's just like a movie - pay full ticket when it debuts or wait until it hits DVD and pay less.

I think piracy also appeals to an infantile ego. "Hey, look what I got 4 free - I'm so clever". Most mature people share the idea that you pay for goods and services - that's the basis of an economy and what drives innovation.

This type of post is intended to attract flame. It is best ignored. If the poster cannot see the great potential in this game, let him/her move on. No game is perfect upon release. It is the dialogue b/w players/developers/modders that make a game great. This game will be great.

Love the game but diplomacy (what's the point). I can be in the middle of a colossal battle with Race X and continue to recieve offers from Race X to do their bidding in order to win their favor. WHAT! We're at WAR! I'm kickin your butt and your gonna ask me to try and win your favor. Look, diplomacy is great feature when it has appropriate depth and versatility (ala GalCiv2) but in SOSE it is almost useless. I rather see it fixed but if not at least give us a way to inactivate it.

Tiberstorm - I have been using stardock software including the entire galciv series on multiple computers for years. I routinely screen for all forms of spyware/malware using several overlapping screening systems. I have never encountered this agent and I cannot find it when screening specifically for the agents you mentioned. No disrespect but there are hordes of good conspiracy sites out there you can better waste your time on. Play the games - have fun and relax.

Another tweek to fleeing fleets jumping in/out repeatedly would be to increase the cool down period b/w jumps. Would permit better pursuit and force players to plan their jumps more carefully. Would also like to see some more sophisticated fleet formation options. Thanks for listening - very nice game btw
