building seven had a gaping hole (about a third of the structure) torn out of it by the collapse of the second tower (or possibly both, im unsure on that) and was left to burn for about 7 hours. the fire brigade decided not to fight the fires because building 7 was a lost cause, and they knew well in advance that building 7 would collapse. it was bulging and creaking well before it came down. so they evacuated the area and let gravity take its course. its not rocket science.
