Quoting -RAISTLIN-, reply 69 Sins is also about as deep as a puddle. What’s your point? Ouch, you're tipping your hand a little there. Sins has about as much depth as any other RTS game in terms of gameplay. Its a different beast, and the depth comes from using what you have in a grand plan rather than figuring out the perfect build order to drone-rush your opponent 4:12 seconds into&nbsp
And you're an idiot if you think that.
Hey, maybe you just have low standards or lack of experience. Sins lacks either the depth of warcraft or master of orion and the balance is awfully simplistic rock-paper-scissors. A great achievement as a genre combination for sure, but hardly god’s gift to complexity or depth.
What's your point?
Well, you

A completely fair and valid point. But do both consoles only have 512 mbs of ram? The ps3 has games like MAG with 256 players. surely that would require more than 512 MBs of ram. Please let Zehdon know that you’re getting offended on his behalf. I don’t feel I was being combative with Zehdon at all, especially when you consider just how much text we shared back and forth. I do feel combative though when people substitute their imagination for evidence and claim to be a critical thinker by doing so. Like I said, critical thinkers follow the evidence, they don’t just make shit up because its (supposedly) in the realm of possibility. So,

Well, I’m not sure which part of the article (or indeed DG’s launch woes) you don’t understand. Brad stated
"[Demigod's] infrastructure was designed to handle up to 50,000 of these connections," said Wardell. "But on day 0, there were around 140,000 concurrent users of which 18,000 are validated. Pirated users can't get updates or play multiplayer but they still touch the servers."

See thats the beutiful part of critical thinking. Is you don't discount an argument because it goes against your preconceived notions. You dissect it and if the logic seems sound to you you give it some credence. You may not agree, but you do not attack. you make yours, they make theirs and if neither capitulates you agree to disagree. The “third party reporting” got its info straight from stardock (it even says that in the article ffs). So what? OK, so there were more than 18,000 sales. But there were still more than 100K pirates at the 1 time, which also means that there were more than 100K pirates in total. So, it is still reasonable to assume based on these numbers, that there were substantially more pirates than legit users at launch.
To be honest Raist, if the powers at be thought a small amount of money could be spent (such as setting up a buch of bots) to influence the perception of certain ideas with the long term net effect of realizing a larger profit margin on their investment. they would do it in a heart beat. In political and News circles it is called spin and doctoring evidence. And it happens in the corparate world all the time. Now I am sayi
Actually it says 120,000, but also the 2 weeks before that Sins was the top seller with no anti piracy on it as well. Makes me think the makers of DRM put up some bots to continuously download and try to connect to sell their software after Sins dominated sales without it. It makes me very suspicious especially since Demigod was an online game where pirates would know beforehand that they wouldn't be able to connect so wou
Well yeah. Every marketing suit is going to say that piracy was a huge hit to sales when the game doesn't sell well. IMO part of the reason they say this is to 1) kiss ass to inveigle themselves into better positions that pay more and 2) keep their jobs.
So then, explain to me how 180000 pirates for a game that sold 18000 copies at launch is 1) not a problem or 2) incorrect.

I’ll just remind all the demigod players about DG at launch – 18,000 legit users, 180,000 pirates. That seems a rather substantial issue from where I’m from.
How is one company .. Epic a drove.
uh, who is talking specifically about epic? I'm talking about almost every single PC developer.

:( i just typed out a response and got the 'forums go boom' and im not going to bother again. needless to say i think you're wrong on your trivialisation of piracy, and have virtually every PC developer as evidence. whereas you have...your gut feeling.
Actually, it has very little to do with the amount of consoles or PCs and all to do with audience or size of the audience. Sorry, that's my fault for being unclear.
I’m confused. How would you judge the size of an audience other than by how many computing units are sold?
How many people have state of the art PCs, game exclusively on them,&nb
