This game is fun because there are a ton of strategies you can try. Change yours. :-P Build more ships before you expand to other planets. Put bounties on the AI. Build tactical structures. There's all kinds of ways I can think to stop from losing in the way you described.
Saethan
I run it just fine on a sony vaio 2ghz core 2 duo using an 8400m GT.. 2gb ram.. though it does get a little laggy in giant games.
Ugh, that was Microsoft's doing? I get so annoyed at games that store my save files anywhere other than the game directory... How could they screw up so many things with one operating system?
I push my choke points out to where they have only one or two incoming phase lanes, then arrange turrets along the most likely routes an enemy would have to take to try and skip past my planet, and leave a few ships which can slow down an enemy in the system. Even if I don't stop much of the fleet, I'll at least take out a number of ships, and if I notice in time I'll specifically target the capitals to disable them. The strategy I'm using right now on a huge random map is to push out
If you put an option to disable them, everyone stops complaining.
Yeah. I suppose I could make a mod where they aren't available to build, that wouldn't be too tough I don't image...
That sounds really odd. You might be unlucky, heh. I save everything to my usb stick.
One thing I love about this game is that I can play it on my laptop... I'm trying to get my friends to buy it so we can start some coops together. I work as a tutor in a computer lab at my college, and when it's slow in here, I sit around playing Sins. :D I looked at the system requirements for a few other games I considered... many of them would cost me an extra $300 just to be able to play it on my desktop(ok, yes, I did buy a 360 just so I could play halo 3... but cmon.. halo :-P ). <b
Combat in this game is certainly a lot easier than traditional RTS... I'm getting used to the fact it's not -required- of me to micro manage to be able to defeat a larger force. The most I do anymore in my 'giant random' game is queue up the fleet to attack the cap ships first, then let them go at it. I've got 3 main fleets with 5/6 cap ships each(I recently decided to create a 4th 'ohcrap' fleet, for when somebody decides to attack my home system, stealing some units from my 3 main ones) and
What does it say the cap % is, and have you tried building a culture satellite?
Just an option to turn them off would be great. Think command and conquer... when you make a game, you can turn off super weapons.
