Ability Points in Modding GalCiv2 Forums

When starting a race you have the option to add a few abilities of your choice, or remove the current ones, get the extra points, and do it completely yourself. Is there a way to change the amount of points one has by default?

Ship Upgrading? in Galactic Civilizations II GalCiv2 Forums

I'm new to the game, and trying to learn some of the basics as well as advanced techniques. One of my qualms that I'm trying to figure out, is upgrading ships. It seems to be simple enough, but one thing bothers me. Whenever I click "Upgrade" on an existing ship type, I get brought to the upgrade screen, except all its functional, but not cosmetic, parts are stripped. Not much of an upgrade when you have to replace all the missing parts. Even moreso when you're not given a chance to see

Hi, I'm new to the game but not to modding. One of my first interests was tinkering around with the game, and I read the guides here. One problem I'm having however is opening the .entity files in GameInfo.
