I have experienced identical issues to what is stated above. However, after no small amount of tinkering, I have been fortunate enough to completely rectify this issue on Vista by doing the following: 1) Setting "Windows XP SP2" under Program Compatibility. 2) Running the executable (directly) as Administrator.
