Wow! Changing the mouse cursor helped! Not much, but at least FPS is staying at around 10 now, instead of 3-5, meaning it's playable. Still not using any GPU though, but I'm pretty impressed that my crappy CPU can handle it this well all alone now :P Imagine how well it'll run when it's fixed :)

I'm hoping for lots more spells in the future, and am pretty certain that we'll get them :) Guys at Stardock already promised to add some if I remember correctly, and yes, should be fairly simple to mod some in also (with effects and everything!)

Yes, tactical battles work fine for me too. This really low FPS when viewing 3D objects on the map is really the only problem of this kind that I've encountered, and it's a constant in every game all the time for me. It's just not using the GPU :(

Looks very interesting :) I like the concept of having several good and evil factions more than just Paladine vs. Takhisis I think. Never played War of the Lance, but the idea behind it sounds very cool.

I found one called Morrigan's book, or was it Moriahs? But didn't see any new spells available for research. Spell level 7 at the time, I guess they are some huge powerful high-level spells! You can also get books like summoning, mastery, combat etc. via magic research.

Also agreed. I've only had the poor performance with 3D-objects annoyance, no crashes at all after 10+ hours played. Yeah the game isn't 100% finished, but so what? I'm expecting to be playing Elemental for years to come, what's couple of days, weeks, or even months? Turn based fantasy strategy games are about as rare a breed as possible when it comes to PC games, I'm just glad someone is still making them! :)

I built harbors easily in the previous versions, but in this latest 1.05 I can't seem to do it even in cities that are near perfectly acceptable looking beach :(

Well I've got Core 2 Duo 6400. Setting Elemental to use single core has no effect for me.

Yeah, exactly the same performance for me on both 1920x1020 and 1024x768 resolutions. 5-10 fps :( No idea what could be causing this, is there anything I can post here to help, like the debug file?

I tested it, and the same result here: Elemental isn't using my GPU, so my poor CPU keeps having too much to do :( I've also got Intel CPU and Ati Radeon HD 5770 with the newest (10.7) drivers (on WinXP 32bit). Very strange, maybe it's the drivers indeed? But strange that the problems happen to Nvidia users also... Not using the GPU explains why changing graphic settings has no effect, right?

Well I found the problem, I think. There was this option "Use localized data" checked in options. I unchecked it, restarted and spells are like they should be. But I could swear I haven't checked that option myself, so it must have been on by default. Weird. Edit: And yes, I was playing a new game with new just-made sovereign.

[Bug][1.05] Spells not updated? in WOM Support Elemental Forums

This is weird, I've updated to 1.05, it clearly says so in Impulse, and yet I've still got the spell "Ice Bolt" and can select the summoning spell book in sovereign creation [e digicons]:omg:[/e] The UI for example does have the new 1.05 stuff. My spells somehow didn't get updated along with the other stuff? Should I reinstall the game maybe?

Cloth map looks like a board game with figurines or something :) It looks like that no matter how far you've zoomed if the game is set to use only it.

Here's another player eagerly waiting for multiplayer :) Good thing I didn't know about the plans for not including tactical battles in multiplayer, I'm sorry but for me it sounds like madness [e digicons]8C[/e] No matter though, if they're going to be added in the future. I've been playing AoW: SM multiplayer with friends for six years now, still do sometimes, and we are hoping Elemental will be a worthy replacement for it one day. Games taking long isn't an issue for us really,

Yeah, that sounds familiar :( 10 fps is the max for me with towns on screen, a big city will drag it to around 3-4. But like I said, I'm hopeful and the cloth map isn't bad ! They'll work on it I'm sure. :)

Map editor works great though :D So it's definitely the 3D stuff like cities for me (and many others I guess...) I think I'll be honing my map making skills now...
