Answering myself here, perhaps for the benefit of others: Looks like the key is having a check beside "prevent loss of focus notifications." Seems to be working so far. A bit puzzled at the two other options, though.
Returning to the original post in this thread, I found this setting (thanks Neil!) but it doesn't seem to actually work. I can get a checkbox by "exclude this window from autominimizing" but even when it is checked the window will minimize after the timeout period. As for the "always exclude this app from autominimizing" option, can't even get a check on that. Any ideas? Just updated from the beta to the full release.

Came back to WindowFX for the beta after a few years away and, wow, things have come a long way! Any chance that the "Inactive Windows" feature can be fine-tuned a little? It would be great if we could set WindowFX to minimize only certain windows or, to look at it the other way around, exclude certain windows from being spirited away. Keep up the great work!
Not sure of the number, but the most recent version as of a couple of weeks ago when I first downloaded and installed it. That is a high-res dream, but prior to the update to the latest beta it was not taxing the CPU like this at all. Just trying to be helpful for Stardock. It is beta, after all.

And by the way, is it just me or does it appear that this forum devoted to DeskScapes seems to have been downgraded? It's not as easy to find from the main forum page as it was before. Thank goodness for my bookmark.
Just in case anyone is listening and cares, I updated Deskscapes yesterday to the latest version above. Everything still works fine (running Vista Home Premium on a Q6600 system with 2 gigs of RAM and a BFG 8800 GTS 320MB video card) but CPU usage has gone way up. Nothing else on my system has changed since the Deskscapes update, but now the CPU idles at 30 to 40 percent usage where before it would be in the teens. Same dream running as before, btw. Any thoughts?

Reporting back with success. I finally managed to get DeskScapes going. The main reason for the delay was--wait for it--getting Vista UAC to play ball. Not a hard thing for me to do, but I can't imagine the frustration of a new user. And that's not Stardock's fault, of course. Happy with the purchase of OD and even happier to have Deskscapes running.

Like many here, I've been waiting patiently for the arrival of DeskScapes for Vista Home Premium. But I've grown increasingly impatient and am very close to breaking down and just buying the whole ObjectDesktop package so I can get the beta.
