In which case, it strikes me as an extremely minor bug. Now, if they taunted you prematurely and then when you later officially contacted them and they STILL didn't show up in diplomacy screens or the UP, it'd be a big deal. Frankly, I'm still more concerned with mechanical balance in game stats. They just don't work right. They might function adequately, but they're still not correct. Reminds me of a Rube Goldberg machine...only clunkier. Especially with

Here's an issue for everyone. Diminishing returns. Let's say a company starts up, and makes a game that's pretty good when compared against its contemporaries. As time goes by, they make improvements to that game through patches. Later on, they make a new game, which takes all they've learned, and does a few new things to keep it interesting and experiment with. The same happens over more time until they make yet another new game, and so on. Eventually, t

I agree with both mickeko and Bobucles. mickeko put the real situation in the most succinct terms of all, and his prediction WILL come true...because, well, people are predictable. Bobucles gave the very REALLY long answer that mickeko mentioned before. That said...piracy will end when the internet is ruled by true AIs (i.e., hardware AIs instead of software AIs). It's a tad sci-fi, I know, but we inch closer and closer. Some might fear a hacking of AIs...b

That's what I thought it was. Yeah, kind of annoying. I wouldn't mind a ship-for-ship upkeep setup, but again...only if the production costs are reduced, or income rates are increased. Not a lot...but a bit at least.

I'd have to say EVERY Star Trek game ever released, except Star Trek: Encounters for the PS2. The controls can be a bit...erratic...if you get caught up in events, but but overall it had good graphics, usable controls and entertaining gameplay. Scratch that...Armadas I and II weren't too bad either, but pretty much all the other Star Trek games have been a vomitous insult to Roddenberry's creation. Most Star Wars games. The adventure games are usually pretty ok, but
I'd say each ship takes a certain amount of resource income (It'd have to be really small, but still there) it'd be more realistic and would help you rebuild when your fleet is blasted to hell. then put a max ship number (much higher, tho, just put a max in-fleet to promote strategy, as you'd force them to use more groups) and this would mean smaller attacking numbers as people spread their defences more realistically (except for Vasari - phase
I agree--the game is fine as it is. If you don't want enemy structures in the gravity well of a planet you just captured--blast them apart.
I'm pretty sure everyone's fine with the game as it is, but the slow dying of abandonded structures would be interesting. As for the enemy structures in your territory...you're right...but I think the person who mentioned that was referring more to allied str

Wow...I've become so tired of BOTH sides of these sorts of arguments, that I'm sincerely hoping some sort of catastrophic incident actually EMPs the entire planet leaving it technologically dead for decades or more. Much as I like tech, I can get by without it quite easily. Better to not have it at all than listen to a bunch of self-absorbed brats go on about how they themselves or others "on their side" DESERVE this, that, or the other. This seemingly

I got Homeworld 2 within a month of it's release...so I couldn't care less how others get it now. Not my problem. As for piracy...I'll admit to downloading games that are just simply impossible to find otherwise. I'd pay for it if there were a legitimate way, but sometimes there just isn't anymore. It's worth mentioning though how rarely I need to do so. I mostly agree with the idea that it's not wrong to pirate a game to try out if you're going to buy it any

I just checked out the B5 TC mod, and it says on their site that it's been suspended indefinitely since last August. It might be a good idea to remove it from the list or otherwise put that info in its section so people know. You might want to check the other TC mods for that too, otherwise more people will complain here than the complaint thread...wherever that is.

Well, you'd still get the planet vision with ferang's suggestion, Orodum. It just wouldn't be indefinite. And, that's all you have to sacrifice to be able to get rid of allies' structures when you take over a planet they lost on their own. If you just wait, their structures will just go poof. Minus the idea of "surrogate parenting" anyway. I'd say the only way the "surrogacy" trait should apply is when the structures are also taken over by your forces. So,

I have no sympathy for the state of the economy at all. /rant on To create an economic model based on infinite growth and continuous profit...and do so within a closed system of finite resources...with a medium of trade that consists of otherwise useless and worthless materials (gold and paper)...only to create an addendum to the economic model whereby one may engage in full trade without even the possession of the trade medium (credit)...seems like a level of s

I'd say up the cap on ships...but not production-wise. Production limits remain unchanged...but create a means to capture ships up to double the production cap. I miss Homeworld now...I'm gonna go play it.

Now THAT was extremely helpful. Here you go Annatar, have a karma. Thank you. Everyone still feel free to give pointers and stuff. If I start modding, I'll make a thread about my project and I'll post a link to it here...assuming I get comfortable with the task.

Well, it's good to know all that at least. I assume by photoshop people mean adobe photoshop? I think I need to reiterate how little I actually know. I know windows, I know how to type, I know some file types, and I know how to use paint and similar tools. I'm also pretty good about figuring things out...once I have a reference point for understanding what it is they actually do. That's it...I don't know what the names of programs are, or what they do, or how

I've seen all the modding going on, and there are plenty of conversions that are getting my interest. There are some games though that I think are being left out. I've been thinking about taking a shot at them myself, but while I'm computer savvy, I am not necessarily computer literate. I like tech...but I'm no tech-head. So...I'll need all advice in "Cap'n Dummy talk." So, these are my questions...what's really involved in modding, what programs do I need, mak

Always it astonishes me that people care about games so much...and what others say on the internet at all. Games are fun...but irrelevant...and the internet is just a way of hearing about things you wouldn't have before. If you didn't care what he thought when you didn't know about it, why would you care afterward? People are silly.

Space and time are inextricably linked. They are two aspects of the same thing. Our form of measurment is purely a human construct, yes, but time's nature is as finite as that of space. That is why time is relative, and why time is altered when space is altered. There's a lot of universe to look at, and so it's difficult to determine the single point from which all began. There may or may not be a point at which all ends too. As appropriate to the topic a
