I had that problem before because I logged-in the game's lobby with my e-mail address. Here, I'm "CyberMage", and I can also use it (instead of the e-mail address), because it is my Impulse nick (as well as my forum nick). So, instead of logging-in with your e-mail address, use "Freyar" : it will work if that is your Impulse nick. To quote another poster who helped me, you can always change your Impulse nick (without changing the account's e-mail address, of course : that you

Thanks Draknahr and Littleboy . I now understand that either the Impulse account's e-mail address or the Impulse nick can be used. I was only employing the e-mail address because I did not know where to define an Impulse nick (reply #14 giving me, at last, the answer). P.S. I feel stupid. I already had an Impulse nick : the same one I used on this forum (CyberMage). I never had the elementary curiosity of trying it to log-

EDIT. Removed all traces of my negligent stupidity concerning the log-in nick (see reply #16).
In my case, since 2B, in the lobby and within the game, I do not see my profile's name (as it was the case, prior to 2B, when I could use more than one profile name associated with my Impulse account). I create a profile, but the lobby and the game, since 2B, display my Impulse account's log-in name, which is my email address! I log-in with my email address (let's suppose it is ABC @ hotmail.com), and then I appear in the game setup list and in the game as

Same situation with me, as I have reported it to death on other threads. I have played a lot of games with Beta 2 : most of them solo, a dozen of them as a host to other human players. But I have never succeeded in joining one single game. I concede that some of those games had already launched when I was stuck in the attempting-to-connect process, but other games remained on the lobby list when I aborted that process. When trying to join, I waited for 30
Are you certain of that ? My forum nick is identical to my Impulse nick : CyberMage. But my Impulse account, as I must enter it to log-in Demigod Internet-play, is my e-mail address (**** _ **** @ hotmail.com), to which all my purchased Stardock/Impulse games are associated. I have never failed a log-in, and it has always been a fast process.
The issues these guys were having were most likely due to trying to join games which had already begun.
Yes, sometimes. But at other times, I see that the selected game still is available after having tried to connect with it for 60 to 100 seconds : the game obviously has not launched, since it remains in the lobby list for over a minute when I have aborted my connection attempt. I have hosted a dozen games, bu
Thanks to both of you ! I had guessed that restarting the game was then required, but I was not certain what « Port 0 » meant and if it was a bug. Your replies clarify the matter.
When I host a custom Internet game, I select « auto port », and I then usually get to host through port 6073. But sometimes, the auto-port option makes me host through « Port 0 ». Is that a bug ? What does it mean ? I have to exit the program and come back to be able to host with port 6073 again. People can join my games through 6073, but I've never seen someone join when I host with 0. By the way, I can host, bu
There's no chat in there. You join games.. that's about it.
Lucky you. I have never succeeded in joining a game! (But if I host, others can join.)
I experienced that in the previous beta version (but not in the very first version), to the point that I stopped playing. It has disappeared in Beta 2 : PTL. Windows XP. SoundBlaster Live! card with most recent drivers (2002!).

I cannot join any game (within a reasonable time-span), but if I host, people can join my games easily. Router quirk ?

Stardock had a nifty program for that, called "Smart Exception". I don't know if it would work with Demigod , since it is developed by another company. My bad : I haven't used it for this beta, since Demigod has never, ever crashed on me!
I've updated on Friday the 19th ... and I tried to join games during the evening. Like the OP states : it never connects. The games offered all remain in a 0/1 or 0/2 or 0/3 status : the hosts don't seem to be able to recruit fellow players who succeed to connect. Lucky for us that we can host a game, alone with only bots : nothing else would be possible, to run a beta-test game, since they disabled all forms of non-Internet play!
In case this info could be useful : My Stardock nickname, for many years, has been CyberMage. But that is not what I must enter to log in. My Impulse account's name is my complete email address : ***** @ hotmail.com . That whole email address is what I had to type-in to log into the Demigod lobby. There, I was identified as CyberMage. I would not generalize : that's what I had to do to get in.
Thanks for the info, guys. I'm still with a 32-bit XP (works fine), but I was toying with the idea of buying a new rig, in 2009. Thanks to this thread's great tech discussion, it will be a 64-bit Vista system. Like Ron Lugge, I would want to try those extremely vast maps Frogboy has promised for 64-bit users with a lot of RAM. By the way, to run old DOS classics like Master of Orion ('93) and Master of Magic ('94), I prefer to use VDM Sound (rather than DOS Box). My

I am somewhat in agreement. Ironclad and Stardock should do some pro-minidump-reporting marketing : 1. Inform people that minidumps are not the evil causes of their problems, and that they are, on the contrary, their allies in helping the programmers to fix the problems identified by the minidump info ; 2. Insert an automatic procedure to easily and rapidly email the minidump file to Ironclad Support (and perhaps also, the DX Diagnostic text-file). ___________
