You sir have Blown my mind I didn't even know that. IS it possible to change servers maybe i'm in a less populated server cause its hard for me to find games to play.
Internet Relay Chat (IRC) has been around since at least 1994, which is when I started using it. It's still the best medium that I know of for online group chat. If you use Firefox you could get the Chatzilla plugin or find another free IRC program, such as mIRC. Here's an mIRC tutorial: http://w

I like the way the www.Sins.bz site handles things. I just submitted a new one I designed, 3v3 Asteroid Belt LE-101 and hope to play it tonight. It's up at Sins.bz now and I also submitted it to Stardock though I don't know if that one "took" or not. In case anyone's wondering, the LE-101 at the end of my maps is a convention from Unreal Tournament clan maps. It stands for "League Edition version 101".

Yeah...lots of IRC servers. Only one that I know of (that's populated) for Sins is the Stardock server. SERVER: irc.Stardock.com CHANNEL: #sins

Are you getting tired of playing the same maps over and over and over? Getting sick of Maelstrom and the not-so-random "Random" maps? (The planet types change but the starting positions, the planet positions, and the phase lanes are the same; just open them up in Galaxy Forge and take a look.) Maybe it's time to start a Custom Map Club. At present the game will not auto-download custom maps, so if we want to play them they need to be installed and downloaded separately. If a b

I suggest getting Galaxy Forge and reading the tutorial. It's very easy to use and it allows you to place individual planets wherever you want. However, as of now any maps you make in Galaxy Forge will not auto-download for online multiplayer games so folks will have to obtain your maps first before trying to play them.

I must say that I do find it a little incredulous that the Vasari Scout and the colonizers can capture neutral extractors but that capital ships (or at least motherships) can't.

The worst I've seen in Sins is nothing compared to what I've seen in FPS communities. There are some despicable folks who are just bad, disgusting human beings. Some of the better players will even heavily insult lesser-skilled players on Teamspeak, harassing them over voice comm. I know one guy in particular who seems to think that he's God's gift to humanity and I worry that his head is so inflated that if he isn't chained to the ground he'll do us all a favor and float off into spa

Here's the problem. Folks don't want to take a loss when they feel that they didn't do anything to merit taking a loss. What happens if you're playing a 3v3 and the other two players on your team get minidumps two minutes into the game making it a 3v1 and two AI? Should you have to take a loss for that? What happens if you're playing a 3v3 and you learn that the other two guys on your team are noobs and the three players on the other team are elite clanners who are on

I going to try to pimp Ring of Risk some on ICO and see if I can get some folks to download it and add it to their game. I really don't think that having to spend the three minutes needed to do that is too much for someone who takes the game seriously and who's getting tired of playing Maelstrom and the not-so-random "random" maps. Heck, back when I was playing the original Unreal Tournament on dialup I would wait over 5 minutes or more just to download a new custom map and I woul

Would it be possible for someone to make a mod to allow more than ten players or is that limit just firmly hardwired into the code?

As a custom map maker, I just wanted to chime in to add my support for patching the game to allow auto-downloads. The map files and the .tga files (the title-picture boxes you see in the game setup screen) are very small and should easily and quickly transfer between hosts and players for this game (unlike much larger and sometimes gargantuan first person shooter maps).

After that...time to move on to online multiplayer to play human opponents. Once you feel comfortable with the game it's more fun than playing feckless AI.

This game has essentially zero copy-protection and it doesn't require you to keep the DVD in the drive in order to play it. Instead you need to enter your key to access the downloads from the official site. You're complaining about that?

In IRC someone suggested that the mothership seems to automatically take up the spirits of any other capital ship that dies when its in a gravity well even if it isn't at Level 6 yet. This is passive. Later you use the resurrection ability actively on a capital ship to complete the resurrection. Is that correct? Is the number of capital ship souls the mothership can save and store unlimited?

After having tried to host for a while, someone made an interesting observation: The first person to join me never seems to have a problem getting in. It's the people after that that seem to have a problem. Any thoughts on why that might be? On my end, when I try to join other games, sometimes I need to try 10 times before I can get (even though other people are already in) after receiving quick rejections.
