Maybe a good thread would be:' "What are your favorite capital ship voices?" I like all three voice sets though I guess the Advent would be my least favorite with the Vasari being my favorite. I do love the Marza voice though. "Want something destroyed?"

Days? Weeks? That sounds rather encouraging. It almost sounds as though it's mostly done and they just want to playtest it a bit before releasing it.
Would be great BUT ... you could use it to cheat and give info to one Team. So it would need to be delayed or.. be optional for tourney play.
I'd love to see that too, but yeah, this could be a problem. The spectator could be on voice comm or using whispers. For serious matches, I suppose that the host would have the option of just not allowing any spectators. Another issue is whether spectators would also increase the chances of having a minidump and whether s

I get some lag too and notice (in Task Manager) that one of my cores gets is operating at 100%. It seems to happen when there are hundreds of ships in the game and particularly when a bunch of ships are fighting. My rig: Socket 939 nForc4 mobo. Athlon X2 4400 (1 MB cache, overclocked to 2.4 Ghz). 2 GB RAM 8800 GT

I can't speak for Lifelock, but a couple hours ago someone tried to join a game I was hosting and received an error saying that he had a newer version that was incompatible with my version. I'm on version 1.04 and I haven't received that error when trying to join anyone else. I remember that when the 1.04 patch was originally released, for an hour or two a version that was missing a file was circulating. Could some of those still be around and might that be the problem?

For that matter, just what exactly does the Deliverance Engine do anyway? Is building them worthwhile? From what I can tell, they don't do much.

One thing that might improve the game would be if custom maps--maps made on Galaxy Forge and not with the in-game Map "Designer"--would automatically download when players join games. Why customs? Because after a while it does get a little boring playing Maelstrom again for the 20th time or playing the Large Random single or multistar map for the 40th time. The benefit of having custom maps is that instead of being randomly generated, they will have been intentionally designed fo
Maybe many people just don't want to play it online when "rushing" seems to be the only way to go? People like me ...
Have you considered playing only larger maps for online play, such as the Large Random Multistar system or the Huge Random single star Also, you could look for 2v2's on the Large Random single star map.

This sounds like excellent news and I'm flattered that you guys are trying to put the idea of having PUG matches into practice. Redwing, to identify a game as a PUG you might just give it that name, ie; [PUG]4v4. You could then pimp it in the Lobby channel, explaining what it is and how it works. Hope I can get into one of your pugs on my next off night, either as "CenturionJixra" or "DirtySanchez". BTW, I made a map in Galaxy Forge intended for 5-on-5 clan match

Was ICO down at all around 5:30 am EST on Monday May 05? I'm trying to log in and it's claiming that I'm giving it the wrong password but I've used this account and this password several times before, including just an hour ago. (Edit--never mind, it just let me on.)

Update. My DSL connection uses a Siemens Speedstream 5100b DSL modem. Last night, after some frustration after being unable to connect to a couple games, I logged into it and nuked the PPPoE setting and put it into "Bridged Mode", allowing my router to handle the PPPoE part. Does putting it into "bridged mode" essentially make it a dumb modem without any NAT or firewall issues? Guess I'll find out how it does when I go to host.

I run the game on a Socket 939 Athlon X2 4400, which has 1 MB cache on each core and runs at 2.2 Ghz at stock speed. (It's a crappy overclocker and I can only squeeze 2.4 Ghz out of it.) I have 2 GB of RAM and an 8800 GT, and the game seems to lag on my system some once there are large numbers of ships. In the task manager I've noticed that Core #1 is being used at 100% and the only other programs I run while playing are mIRC, Firefox, and Windows Media Player (for list

What should be the dimensions for a .tga image to be used as a map title in terms of pixels by pixels? (That image that you see in the map browser when you select a map.) Is it possible to design an image as a .jpg or .png and then simply convert it over to a .dds or .tga using a simple program like Irfanview?

I've recently started learning how to play the Advent and I'd like to learn more about some of the ships' abilities. I'll add more questions in later posts as they come to me. Malice . Does Malice (the mothership's ability) affect only the single ship that you target with it or does is it also have an area of effect? Ruthlessness . One of the upgrades for th

Just one more comment. This project is still in its infancy so we don't have any real protocols or rules yet, though it's always a good rule of thumb not to act like an insufferable arse. If this were an FPS, the protocol might be: When enough people have signed up, two people type .captain (or get assigned randomly) and then pick the teams and then join the server at such-and-such server IP and here's the password. Since Sins isn't server-based folks would be free to make the

Here's a good tutorial for how to access the GameRadius.net IRC server via that Java applet program. (Ignore the comment where the author mentions being able to connect to IRC via XFire, I think that was a mistake on Strych9's part.) http://www.utclan-focr.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2402 [I](NOTE--you want to go to the #sinspug channel and not the #focr channel, which is a channel for that clan. If you ask about Sins in the #focr channel, I
Is there any way you could move the IRC channel to the irc.stardock.com server? It would be a lot easier to get people to idle there if they didn't have to join another server to do so.
Possibly, but there are some technical issues. I've talked to the pugbot owner (it's quite a program that does all sorts of neat things, such as report the weather and give out sports scores upon request) and he listed a number of conditions for putting his program up on another IRC serve
