I don't have any particular problem with the upgrade system, so long as the costs are appropriate. If I've been hoarding BC for a while and not spending, why shouldn't I be allowed to open the vault and hire an army of contractors to get the upgrades done? If my ships are relatively near support, it wouldn't take that much longer. It's one of the ways they can make stockpiling BC interesting, rather than always spending it ASAP. I just want them to avoid what happe

Sorry man, but it's the truth. A few people who won't buy a steam version simply aren't worth the cost of making a non-steam version.
Yeah! Civilization series has proven it years ago. 4X FFA games in MP are as fun and exciting as it gets, and the bigger scale the better. Bring it on. Coop vs AI... nah, that's rather dull. FFA with all human, or some humans, and rest AI: Thumbs up!
To each their own, but there isn't enough of us that want MP around here to start a coop vs FFA argument. ;)
Probably start with the Terrans and then try other ones as I go. Plan on playing a fair bit of coop, so whatever I pick I hope it's got some unique tech I can trade to my partner (For his unique tech, of course).
When it's ready you'll get a Steam key, and download it using Steam.
The bigger issue is not the current base of Founders. It's everyone that buys the game. Because well, 1 person buying on launch day = the same amount of money, whether they are Founders or not (actually if Stardock's implication is that Founder's saves money, then it could be argued that Founders are worth less than an ardent fan on launch). People less loyal may wait longer (so the game will be cheaper then).

Brad has already said it's not happening. There is no chance
The more expensive package is more cost effective long term, if they make a lot of DLC. But the cheaper one gets you the game for a much lower cost now, so it's better if you don't have as much money lying around.
Well we know now there's going to be some type of fleet stuff, as well as some extra combat mechanics like range and evasion. We also know there won't be individual ship control style tactical combat. It sounds like the door's open for something.
We are not making any promises for MP to be "fun". I am skeptical on whether 4X MP can be fun outside of very small galaxies. But the alpha will have multiplayer in it (it's not going to be a feature that comes late, it's already in now in our builds). I do think that 2 vs. AI might be fun. How would that work if there's anything in that space? A rival empire would need to be processed, which means you need to create that part of the galaxy for them to operate in. You can't compare games across genres like this and get comparisons that make any sort of sense.

The images don't work for me unless I save and rename them. I'm getting files just called "Ship" with no extension, in Firefox. Renaming them to add the extension fixes it. On my iPad (where I can't do that), the images are unusable. They just show up as walls of text.
