Any good game will come to an end eventually. I'm going to take EQ here as an example. The first few expansions were great fun, adding meaningful new content to the game. But after so long, the engine is dated and you've already done everything you can do with it. Expansions now consist of more health to player armor and add more raid bosses that are more of the same. This clearly is not worth the subscription and was dropped immediately. It's inevitable, a good game has to be put down

Hrm I'll try breaking down how I go about games. 1. Capital Factory, picking the colonize cap ship 2. Build 2-3 scouts depending on how many phase lanes are going out from my planet 3. Buy 100 crystal and get the infrastructure on the home planet 4. Build mines 5. Look at the map and find the asteroid nearby, send the capital ship there alone 6. Start making light frigates 7. Infrastructure on the asteroid, followed by mines when credits become available 8. L

The way I play as the Vasari is that the best defense is having a strong offense. Constantly pushing the fleet supply to its cap and just chaining from planet to planet and building phase stabilizers on each planet. This way if a problem arises I can warp the massive fleet straight to where they need to be. Playing that way Unfair AI still isn't any bit of a challenge, no Dark Armada mind you. After getting the first half of the fleet maxed out as an attack force only then do I start ma

I usually only have 6-16B per planet (only placing farms if there's a bonus tile). I find that usually a planet will like me, unless it's my capital which always seems to simply hate me and to a lesser extent the early planets I had colonized. Capital planet usually always drops down into the 30-45% approval ratings while the early planets I had colonized that weren't taken from the enemy would be around 60% approval. This may sound a bit strange but I actually prefer playing tiny maps

Haha, don't worry about it. It took me five games to finally figure out how to do it. Kept seeing the enemy coming into my system somehow but couldn't figure out how to get to them. I seen the tech, researched it, and then sat there going, "Ok, now where is the phase lane?" and then lost before I could finally figure it out. Then decided to select my ships and right click a planet in another system hoping they'd do it automatically and to my surprise, it worked!

You need to research the long range jump tech. Then if you just right click a planet in another system your ships will move to the star and warp from there to that systems star.

Don't know if anyone noticed it with 1.04 but units won't leave frigate factories alone now and correctly auto attacks them. But it spawned a new problem, capital ships don't want to start autobombing planets any more T.T At least a good majority of the time anyway. My most recent game I've had to keep specifying to the capital ships I wanted them to start bombing. Which I guess if they want to do it that way it fixes the capital ships from breaking off to attack other insignifcant shi

I've noticed the same thing with wormholes. AI tries sending units wherever he may be trying to go and passes through a wormhole, goes a space over and thinks "whoops! we weren't suppose to be here." and head back through. And then keeps doing it. Many times I see a fleet jump in at a wormhole by one of my planets and then see them heading for it only to pass through to get to an empty space behind it (never attacks) and then turn around to go back through the wormhole. I can'

The tier 1 damage increase costs are fine. With the way I start my games you'll always have extra credits coming in that don't need to be allocated to building ships, as they're already being queued quicker than they're being built and/or metal components are coming in slower than the credit required to build a new ship. So basically I'm always sitting with extra credits, and well look at that, spare crystals because the ships don't cost crystals. Might as well make the sitting resourc

I see. So how do I deal with them being unhappy because of population. This is the one I always take huge hits on, normally about 70% unhappy because of population. Ideally I'd like to not have to axe off my population but if that's my only real choice <.<

Sounds like there's a number of people that have this happening. Game was working fine until recently also and now it crashes and locks up for me at random times. Started by just crashing when I tried playing as the Krynn specifically but it's moved on to crashing whenever it feels like. I've seen at least 6 other people posting the same problem. Game's been working fine but now just crashes for apparently no reason that anyone has gotten help with on how to fix it. The best gu

Another question if I may. Happiness doesn't seem to do anything. Say I have the third version (can't remember name) structure to increase happiness on a planet with 43% approval and research the tier 4 structure and it gets done upgrading it. Shouldn't I be above 43% now? Population doesn't change and I don't change the taxes so have no idea why it doesn't. So after seeing my people still unhappy I research the next tier, it upgrades, and still 43% approval. Again, nothing changed. Do

Well, I'll honestly say I don't touch the spies unless this problem comes up. Playing as the Drath and I already have problems keeping a balance between keeping my people happy, maintaining my money, and producing ships fast enough so I can deal with races if the problem arises. Thank you all for the tips though. I can play on normal games now and win about 1/3 of the time so it sounds like it's the perfect difficulty for me until I get some more experience under my belt here. Can't ima

I was friends with the Altarians and the Terran attacked them so I jumped in to help. Then the Yor and Krengin attacked me because they were friends with the Terran. So far so good. I decided after a bit of time I couldn't deal with both Krengin and Yor at once so sent Yor a peace treaty, offering him the extra bells and whistles he wanted. The same turn he redeclares war again ._. Terran made peace with the Altarians so I called up the Terrans to declare a peace treaty myself. He acc

Seems my problem has migrated to more than just the Krynn now. Can only play as Terran, Krengin, and Drath now. Tried deleting all the customracexml's and didn't help any unfortunately. Edit: Tried deleting all the customracexml's another time and all the races would let me get into the game. Since I was just seeing if they'd work I would retire to go back to the main menu and it crashed twice going back. This is when trying to play Dark Avatar, haven't tried it on Dread Lords. Just ret

How am I suppose to counter this? I can tell where it's happening by noticing the little spy icon next to my planets and the event text said that I'd need to dump lots of money into getting rid of it but I can't figure what they're implying I should do. Am I suppose to decommission those building and rebuild or research something specifically like other events or even just something I'm suppose to wait out?

Ok, I had GalCiv2 and DA installed, my brother hasn't played the game and when he seen me playing it he thought it looked good and wanted to play it. So I told him, "Before you pay for it let me log on and buy it for you because I have tokens left I can use". Now at this point I thought that once I clicked buy on the token purchase I could say that it was a gift and have it transferred to his account but no go, it immediately brought me to the thank you receipt and told me I could download it

Anyone able to help me out here? I just got the game today, getting a good feel for it, exact for this one problem. Whenever I create a fleet and try moving it I can't send it more than 2-3 spaces away from where it is. All unfleeted units will move as far away as I tell them to but I cannot for the life of me get a fleet to accept my command unless I keep telling it to move in short intervals. It's really frustrating when trying to move an entire army.

Looking at the tech trees (specifically just the population increase techs) wouldn't it make more sense for the Vasari's starting home planet to be a volcanic one? And the Advent's a desert planet? TEC get the biggest upgrade out of terran planets, no brainer. Vasari get the biggest population upgrade to volcanic and the Advent get desert. Now obviously the Vasari got the short stick by quite a bit. Wouldn't it make more sense for the Vasari to have their max population on v

From what I hear, the next best thing is suppose to be the fantasy 4X (think I remember them saying it was 4X) game Stardock is developing. 4X games are fun, there's just not enough of them, good ones at least.
