Well, I've had an interesting morning. Uninstalled Impulse and reinstalled the update "above". Everthing was fine until I installed "My Colors". It moved my WB files to the Shared folder (took awhile to figure that out). Had to uninstall WB, then reinstall WB, but the WB folder only had 3 files in the Vista folder. So IE looked like $&%#. Had to hunt down the Vista files and add them to the Vista folder, now IE is OK. Ofcourse, I uninstalled My Colors.....
I finally got Impulse to work on my XP/Satellite internet PC. I had to go in to Internet Options and remove the proxy server information (the satellite software uses a proxy to optimize the connection). Without the proxy, Impulse was able to connect and download, albeit very slowly.
I've been trying, since this came out, with no success. Couldn't get past the log-in screen. Tried the no proxy way and I'll be dogged, it works. Thanks for the info, CptCrckpot. ;)

I'm disappointed they took the "All Icon Sizes" preview away. I use it when I build a new package, to see if any of the icons are messed up. Here's hoping they put it back.
You're installing this as Administrator...correct?
Yes.
No errors in the logs?
There was a lot of errors all saying the same thing. "Error parsing the XML from the webservice" & "Server not responding, please check your internet connection". Deleted the log, still the messages. Also, did the "Revo Uninstaller" 4 times. No success. Don't have Object Zip or Zone Alarm.
Z71 check the logs located at C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Impulse\Temporary and see if anything looks out of place
The folder is there. It has other folder (with stuff) in them. Nothing looks out of place, but then again, not sure what to look for. ;)

Anyone running Windows Vista Home Premium, that can help me with what settings and which applications, firewalls, etc., you had to turn off (or on) to install and use this? Also, does being on satalite have anything to do with it? My "Network Access" says it's Local and Internet. Do I need to configure a "Network" to use this? I'm sure, if I can just get past the Log-in, I'll be fine, it's getting there that's the battle. Any help, would be appreciated.
What is currently available is very close to the final release. At this time we would like to ask that users of Impulse to use Impulse exclusively going forward. Only use SDC as a workaround if we cannot solve an issue in a timely fashion for you. Otherwise, Impulse should be your only installer going forward.
If I can't get past the log-in screen, then it's no use. Guess I'm out of luck for the future.
Try stopping other downloads you have going and you will see BITS start to use the available bandwidth.
I noticed that. It installs in 3 phases. It downloads, downloads again and then installs. That's why the "usual" install time was way off, compared to other installers. I get that, now. Not downloading anything. Updates and firewall are all turned off. Just trying to log-in and still can't. I think I'll just wait for the final release, then ask questio
Are you running any firewalls?
Just Windows on Vista. Turned it off, no luck. In all the years I've owned a computer, not once have I ever had to turn off or disable the firewall, to install anything. Seems a little fishy, if I have to start now, just to use this. Hmmm...

OK, I can have skin studio open, fix things, etc. all day long, with no problems. I meant it slows my computer down (on XP), when I apply the skin with it open. That's why, for all these years, I've closed it, then applied the skin.
I think a great idea would be to add a "open current windowblinds skin" link to the main front page of SKS 6 instead of having to access it via the file menu.
Also, I wasn't the only person who asked. I know it's a very, very mino

Yes, I open it every time, then close to apply. On XP, it uses to much ram, leaving it open. I'll have to see if it does it differently on Vista. I might have to just change my ways. Oh, and I just wanted to know if it was going to be an option.
