I have two feelings on this. I like the Mac look but like the Windows feel. The Mac has a really good gui, the feel of Windows is the ease of use. My .02. In most part, this is like politics, (some will hate-some will like) I like the two as a combo.
I will try to explain this mess in laimens terms. When you purchase OD or a wincust. account, you are not buying stock in it. You are paying to use the program freely on your computer. I create skins for personal use and upload to share with the community. Period. If this site didn't exist, I would upload somewhere else. When I first found out about skinning, I downloaded anything and everything that wasn't nailed down. Now as time and the years have gone by, I have about 4 programs
Well, after months of headaches, I finally figured it out. Just had to download the latest version of skinstudio for it to work. Thanks to... well ME. Since I only had 1 person try to help me. Where are you, when I need you!!!!
Thanks, WOM, but-been there done that. If only it was that simple. can anyone else help? Here is the problem. I download a new skin and I use vertical taskbar about 99% of the time. and as always, no one knows how to set up the vtaskbar right, so I have to go and change it to make it work. when I do, the 3.4 features disappear. I can't get them back, no matter how I try. Can anyone tell me where or how to get info on this. (Besides stardock, they never reply back with me.)
Can anyone tell me if there's a website or something that can help me with 3.4 features. I just can't get my skins to apply any of the new features. Other peoples wb's work fine on my machine. Mine don't, for some reason. Any help is much appreciated.
I think its a good idea, but I have to agree with a couple comments. There is a little to much grey area. If I could make a few points. 1.) Building the perfect desktop. They call that litestep, desktopx and objectbar.When people design a new theme, isn't that the point? 2.) Pick a certain program to make the ultimate desktop. If you don't, you'll have a flood of single bars with a popup menu and a few icons. 3.) Lastly, have the skinners design a desktop, that after the contest, eve

Just curious. When we upload our skins (no pun intended) and we have to wait for approval, do they really get looked at. There's a beatnik skin called "BedTime" that has a naked women on it. I like women, just like the next guy, but I thought that was a (no go).

I have XPHomeEdition, How do you get the verticalblinds to work or the taskbar at the top? I know you can do these with Objectbar but can you do it with just XP running? Also, Is it just an XPProEdition thing? If it is I really need to update!!! Thanks for the help!!!

I just realised I probably opened up a can of worms because you have to pay for that WB. I just used that as an example. Lets just say any WB.
Let me ask this. Pixtudio's (Pixtudio_WB) didn't come with XP. I have updated it, (Added all the XP stuff). So this is my question. Can I upload it to show people my new desktop or do I need the original authors permission?
Here is the best explanation I know. 1.) If it comes with a wall it might not be set to load it. 2.) It might not have a wall. 3.) If it has a wall, you have to go in to skin studio and tell it to set it. Don't be descouraged. I just use any wallpaper changer and load it like that. Thats the easiest for me. Hope that helps.
bakerstreet, yes, that is all true. I was just making a small point incase Raistlin (who might be new) might get the wrong idea. To your point Raistlin, yes you can use other elements as long as there not the original graphics. For example. if I create a start button that looks like a unicorn, can other people use it? All I have to do is give proper credit. The best thing to do is get author permission. I just think it's respect for the artist. My message was a polite way of saying there is another rip out there. i know there's some new windowblinds out that are total rips, but the owners are just saying, let it be. I think this is wrong. (If you see a kid playing with matches, you correct them.) I don't care if thier new to skinning. Wrong is wrong. They might not even know they're doing wrong. I don't know. Just my 2 cents!!!
I just saw a new objectbar(that was uploaded today) called Simplebars, and they admit right in the description, that they stole the graphics for the theme. I know for DesktopX you don't need permission to upload other peoples stuff. Or so I was told. I still don't like that you can package other peoples objects and upload it. But thats off the subject. I might be way out of line, for defending someone elses work, but for the last 2 or 3 weeks, adni has been ripped on his WB's. Can't anyone see this? There's a new Wb up today that is called chrome something, that is a mix of adni's and APB work combined. There's also anotherone that is glassy thay is Pixtudio's (Light Blue) that is so obvious that it's almost like thier rubbing our nose in it. When will it stop. Just curious.!!!

I have E-mailed Stardock 5 times in the past 3 weeks and still they won't answer me. I know I'm mailing them right because I've E-mailed them about 8 or 9 months ago and got a respone. 3 weeks later, but a response. Maybe you can help. I have seen lately that alot of people are uploading themes without permission. It's especially bad on DesktopX themes. They will take a bunch of other people's skins and throw them together, than upload it. Sometimes they give credit who made them but no permission. I have been seeing it alot on other sites. (Deviantart, alot). Is it a copyright issue? Do these people own the package now or what? I personally think it should stop, but I might be wrong. What do you think? (Example, Azul for
