What are you talking about? A "scant" half billion years? As in 500 million? This is like twice as far back as dinosaurs from jurassic park. Paladin77, why do so much research only to know so little? Go read a textbook on evolutionary analysis if you are really curious what evolutionary biologists think. Personally, I think ecology and other big things biology can be a lot of hocus pocus in practice. (Sometimes they do useful conservation work, but look at this: http://beheco.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/14/5/668 . Articles such as these al
While I disagree with piracy, I do sort of like the idea that if I feel cheated by someone, I can always get my payback. For example, Spore was terrible, pure and simple. The demo was no indication. The over-hyping bordered on fraudulent advertising. The cost of the creepy and cute pack was like salt in a wound. If I "steal" the galactic adventures expansion, to me that is like getting my money's worth belatedly (assuming the expansion actually includes a game). And ultimately,
I've just realized Frogboy reminds me insanely of my O-chem professor. That's just scary.
I disagree with you on that, it just seems too much like a slippery slope fallacy, even almost reductio ad absurdum
Whoa. Formal logic. You are in the wrong place.
Why anyone would be using Vista is a separate mystery.
WTH is wrong with Vista? I've been using for a couple years, and its been fine. With the free mycolors "thinkgreen" desktop, the free object dock, and fences, Vista looks pretty much like the Mac OS anyway. You can even download the free soundpackager and load Mac sounds if you want. But I have digressed. I think the truly important point here is... holy crap!!! Look how many games aLap has! I have one game.
The main problem I think was that in order to appeal to more hardcore gamers (like the people reading this as opposed to people who occasionally play The Sims),
I wouldn't consider myself a "hardcore" gamer; I consider myself someone who accidentally wastes too much time on forums and games. I wouldn't play Command and Conquer III, for instance, mostly because I don't think my computer would come close to running that game, and I refuse to buy a new one. I can't justif
Wow, this looks hot. I just can't wait to see how much time I'll end up wasting playing this.
I just hope that Sims 3 doesn't end up having the same fate. I doubt it though because of the type of game that Sims is.
You can play Sims 3 right now. It's called Sims 2. I don't recommend you buy the expansions, though, unless you want to spend $200 on that game. Obviously, they are overpriced. Unlike the creepy and cute pack. That was only 40% the cost of the game for 100 MB's of intricate, timeless, and endlessly replayable content.
i can't understand people saying they don't buy a game only because it's not on either steam or impulse (whatever they prefer).
I still buy stuff from retail stores. I'm just not downloading steam. Period. I have no reason to download it, wheras Impulse updates Sins, gave me fences for free, and allows me easy access to these forums, which given the amount of time I've wasted on them, were probably worth the value of the game in the first place. Added to that, this sat
I don't use Steam because I don't have any games that need to be updated with it. I was about to download the Empire: total war demo, but then I realized I'd have to install steam. I was afraid it'd eat system resouces, so I balked. Plus, I feel like Stardock is always reading these posts. What other company actually listens to input? It's absurdly cool. Customer loyalty -100%.
So, who else thought Spore was lots of hype and no game? It had builders, sure. But there was no game. Games require challenge. The only part that had any challenge whatsoever was the cell stage, and that was the shortest stage. The creature stage tactics were like the rest of the game, sterotyped and unintriguing. The social game was stupid and overly easy. A memorization puzzle or something would have made it 100x better. The fighting was not like an FPS whatsoever, contrary to the
Elemental looks a lot like an old game called Magic, which rocked. But obviously, this is much more advanced.
You beat me to it. AI always attacks TEC starbases, even when it's a plain bad idea. 14,000 hp. serious weapons. but it can't move. obviously, go around it, orgrov it, vasari starbase with frontal shields, bombers... whatever. just don't attack it with full forces
Voting on emotion. Every time. That's the name of the game now.
Yeah, remember way back when... no, no. I'm pretty sure that's always been the case. Time for a robot uprising? You decide.
Whoa, buddy. That was intense. Dogs are omnivores? Don't tell the vegans.
ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 128MB video memory. yes, dual core
I have the money to buy a game, and I am trying to decide between demigod and gal-civ ultimate. I really would like to buy demigod, but I am afraid it won't run on my computer. It's a dell laptop running windows vista, 1.73Ghz and 2GB RAM. Would the game run smoothly with the lowest graphics settings?
I think the question is whether IRONCLAD will be the next Blizzard. They are the ones who developed it. And I think Ironclad is definitely becoming a major force in RTSs.
Ah, I am assuming developed means wrote. Excuse my ignorance of the video game making world. Maybe I should search for that speech you gave on game making. Something that captured my interest when I believed Stardock AND Ironclad worked together to write Sins is that the games Stardock has publ
I just finished a single player game with entrenchment. Worth the $10. The game dynamics are totally different and totally awesome. Unfortunately, the game is still addictive and long-lasting. A hit and a sweet expansion? Could Stardock be manufacturing great games consistantly?
Who says you can't be the king of your castle in marriage?
(playing devil's advocate)Well, the problem really started when we gave women the right to vote... and then it went downhill from there. (/playing devil's advocate)
Well one things for sure.....it's sure going to mess up the whole "the wife should submit to her husband" thing now isn't it? Maybe they'll trade places as they deem fit and take turns being the boss man.
They don't take turns. The woman is always boss. This is why it is important not to get married. I think this law was written because heterosexual men are afraid of being scoped out on the john, not an invalid fear. Conversely, I do not think men would have
Wikipedia as a credible source.... only if you need something to support your argument.
Where did this idea come from that wikipedia is not credible? Sometimes it gives pointless information, but I very rarely come accross something downright wrong.
Wow. That was like poetry.
And another thing, people like me put words into action.
They are called demagogues. This argument is an appeal to emotions (ad misercordium). http://www.fallacyfiles.org/emotiona.html
