Ain't that the truth - kill the lab, kill the opposition :D

If you weren't such a pain in the ass people may be more willing to help you... The Monk has explained what NEEDS to be done based on how P2P protocols work. He has said that the only people who cannot therefore host are those who cannot make changes to their network as they lack the rights OR people who are too stupid to read a guide and therefore bitch and whine in countless posts on the forums about it... (that last one is you in case you couldn't work it out!!!)
I gave it a go the other day - sent about 9 scouts to blow up a research facility. Was quite hard to achieve it - if they had had any defense, my scouts would have been shredded before I blew the structure. Part of the problem is that I couldn't tell all the scouts to use their ability at the same time - I had to alt-select the ships and then tab cycle through them...
One shouldn't have to go in do this and do that, make changes here and there just to host a game.
I suggest taking it up the the DoD - they created the Internet (around when the Cuban Missile Crisis occured). If you can't find anyone there, try Al Gore - he "commercialised" it. It's obviously their fault and not yours since they invented/promoted the technology you wish to use, but fail to understand!!! Do you blame the car maker if your car won't start because you don't k
Here is a list of things that #$%$ me when playing MP as I consider them "rude". Feel free to pass comment or post your own issues - I would like to get something on a consensus from the community on what should or should not be done online. 1) The host quiting when he is loosing when they still have other team mates in the game. This is unfair as it denies the winning team a win or the "loosing" team a chance to recover. 2) Starting a game that you know will take a number of
It should not be this difficult when trying to enjoy a game online. We all paid for this game, however in order to play/host it you have to make intricate configuration changes. To the everyday geek this is no big deal, however the 80% out there are somewhat technically challenged it is a big deal. It's money wasted down the toilet. One should not have to go into this or that to make adjustments that already should of been made during the developement of Sins.
I have actually seen him in The Lobby!!! (Yet to actually have a game with The Monk, but it may happen one day)
So I lose my money if I am too loose with it at a bar??? :D
It increases/decreases the amount of time pirates take to cross the planet on their way to attack you :D
It should be noted that 64 bit integers use more space in memory then 32 bit ones, so while you may have your full 4 GB addressable (vs ~3.25GB), you may find more space being used.... Kinda swings and roundabouts...
Win2K rocked as a gaming platform!!! I used it for ages instead of 98SE until I got XP
I think it would be cool if they added a destroyer ship class that is specialized in taking out capitals, they would be something between a capship and a cruiser in size. Also an ability to completly destroy a planet with super weapons or something would be totally awesome.
Umm - aren't cruisers are generally larger then destroyers??? - more powerful but not as fast
If they are building factories quicker then you can knock them down, you are doing something wrong - e.g. not enough ships attacking, or you are attacking something that is being repaired or you have picked the wrong target (e.g. go for the drone rather then the building so they cannot build a new structure). At the end of the day though 4-5 cobalts or equivilent are going to struggle to knock down a 4000+ HP structure quickly.
You roll the dice and you take the licks if things go south!!! I hardly ever research, but did it to a dead asteroid yesterday (full upgrade) because I had some resouces and nothing was happening near me (my closest opponents were wiped out and I hadn't gotten my fleet to the other side of the galaxy) - I got the phase jump artifact which is kinda kewl as it reduces the amount of antimatter I loose jumping between systems (plus some other benefits that weren't really needed such as wormhole
Also the game doesn't use servers!!! (P2P - which is why many people cannot host). Try something like EVE...
I played a game last night and the comment was kill Pink (people knew how good he was, therefore figured he might be a threat). Due to the starting position of pink, he was protected by myself and someone else, which meant they had to search for him. By the time they found him, they were under attack and he was colonising planets for himself and clearing the odd planet for me since I was fighting and had no fleet for planet clearing... It would have sucked if they all knew where he was and rushe
Look on the bright side - this means you only loose 10% trade!!!
Just log in, set yourselves as friends and then one of you host and resove slots for your friends. Then wait and see who you get to play against :) (You may want to let people know what you are doing before they start though...)
Maybe not set where each player starts, but set the starting position of each TEAM. This would stop placing a good player next to a newb to get a quick knock down... (i.e. 0,1,2,3 would say TEAM 1 and 4,5,6,7 would say TEAM 2)
Except for Vassari - this ability belongs to their scout ship and uses more anti-matter then the colony ship
EU to Ban Pirates from the Internet? Are you still allowed them for Single Player or LAN games???
Get 4-5 fighters into a LRM battle with someone who is not building flak/fighters themselves and it gets interesting :D I win a number of spam battles by getting them into the mix instead of just more LRMs (I still pump some more out as I need to keep my cheap ship numbers up). And then throw in the odd bombers or two to take down structures/caps or cruisers if someone rushes to them (e.g. Kodiaks). I was playing against a player the other night who was LRM spamming and then put kodiaks into
They are when you have no fleet and your cap is 2-3 jumps away engaging in a fight for a planet you need to get before an opponent does (and pulling back means the opponent will walk into the semi-undefended planet)... I once had a 2v2 game where the opponents were bidding on me and attacking my ally - it took me 1/2 hour to get into the game enough to attack my enemies - in which time my ally was almost out of the game. Nasty (:( The reason I almost lost was because of the pirates stopping
I wonder if we could get SD/IC to "approve" some of these maps as official maps. Then people will be able to download them as new Impulse updates and voila!!! (My 2c idea)
As I said before in another post on this topic, you do need to be careful with this. If you get it wrong, you end up in San Franciso in the mid 1980's and the only way to get back is if "There be whales here"!!!
