I had to turn the hardware acceleration completely off to get any sound at all, and even now it has severe crackling and popping issues. This is not affected by whether bloom is on or off, or whether the game is windowed or fullscreen. This is extremely frustrating, and disappointing considering every other game I own works fine with my audio hardware.

I have the exact same problem. I've tried updating DirectX and my sound card drivers, and changing the user.settings file, but nothing's worked so far. I'm using an E-MU 0404 card, which is geared towards audio production/recording, but it's never had problems with games before.

I installed the game, and immediately updated to the 1.03 patch. The sound works fine in the intro movie, but as soon as it drops to the menu I hear a quick crackle and all sound stops working. I have tried updating DirectX and my sound card drivers, to no avail. I cannot find any sound settings in-game that might be causing an issue.
