Ok - I'm going to plead stupidity. After looking a bit more carefully, it appears that everything is OK. Everyone rest easy. -)
You are talking about military star bases right? Is it possible that they have a military resource star base somewhere? How can you tell that their ships are getting bonuses from you?
It is with 2.0. The window shows the stats for the Torian fleet and lists the ID of the starbase that is supporting it. The starbase is mine. This has happened multiple times this game. The first time, I went out and searche
I'm playing as Koranth, and I've got Torian fighters attacking me. When I click on their fleets, the attack and defense values indicate that they are being supported by *my* starbases. The combat results also indicate that this is happening, as they are defeating my fleets that are in support of the starbases, and there is no way that should happen as my starbases have alot of modules. I have a save game showing that this is happening. Can I email it to someone at t
*cough* no-tech brokering option *cough* Thanks!
I wonder if one of my configuration files has been screwed up. When I run the game for the first time, it starts ok. However, if I then go to the main menu and select new game again, the graphics of the race characters become messed up and the game usually crashes. Also, what should the AI intelligence be set to at PAINFUL? It shows as 85, but I thought it would be 100. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The value of a tech should be based on what percentage of races have it. So if I try to trade a tech to the 9th race, when 8 others already have it, that tech should be nearly worthless in trade. If I am the only one who has it, then it should be worth a fortune in trade. As long as Frogboy decides to look into it, he might as well underline all of the above to grab a basic principle from the start... only then, would No-Brokering be an ever sooooo sweet option to tick or not!Besides, i to
I like this as an option. I'll look into it.
Brad, greatly appreciated. As others mentioned, it would add a *much deeper* layer to diplomacy. You could trade away high value military techs to other races to aid in their war efforts without the rest of the universe having that tech three turns later since, currently, as soon as a race gets a tech it pretty much passes it around. Thanks,
That is, a tech could only be traded away by a race if it was researched by that race. This would prevent races from getting a tech in trade and then susequently trading it away to a half dozen other races. It would make a nice compromise between the free-for-all trading and totally disabling all tech trade. Thanks,
I'd love to see the option of no "tech brokering". That is, you can only trade away a tech that you yourself researched. This would add some flavor, since unique racial techs can still be traded away, but, the race that has the unique tech in their research tree is the one that decides who ends up getting it. This should also be easy to code up.
Well - I have not purchased either expansion, but I will most defintely do so after V2.0 comes out. I've found that games tend to be much more enjoyable after a patch or two has been released. Btw - *really* looking forward to the MOM clone.
It seems to me that any pic that is labeled "must have" is, almost by definition, over powered. Sounds like they need to tone it down a bit in a patch.
As it is, weapon and defense techs are fundamentally flawed. It usually plays out like this:Laser I - 10 weeksLaser II - 6 weeksLaser III - 6 weeksLaser IV - 7 weeksLaser V - 7 weeksPlasma I - 12 weeksPlasma II - 7 weeksPlasma III - 7 weeksetc. This is logically absurd. I have no motivation to EVER use an inferior tech as it'll take longer to BUILD the ship then it will to simply research a new level, thus making it instantly obsolete. Well, feel free to make your own game. A
*decloak* Trading (especially Tech trading) is the one thing that absolutely ruins what otherwise is a fantastic game. Last time I played (its been a while), the fact that minor factions would be the most technologically advanced in the galaxy due to the AI freely passing techs around just bothered me to no end. In fact, the messed up trading is why I essentially quit playing. Here's how to fix it (imo): 1) Require that the AI and player always have more tech that
