Hi guys, Whats the word, I thought it was friday but now I'm hearing it may be tomarrow?! [e digicons]:moo:[/e]
I had to upgrade the MOBO/RAM/CPU I also bought a 30 dollar heat sink so I could overclock it, all in all the cost was $410, well worth it. I kept my powersupply 470W/Case(Alienware Area 51) and all the other stuff, like cd/dvd,etc.

I highly recommend upgrading to a duo core if you have a single core. I use to have the same as you a P4 3.4ghz and I also had an 8800gt and I thought it was the tits. But after upgrading to a 8400 3ghz clocked at 4ghz and buying new ram (2 gigs), still kept the 8800gt and its a huge difference in game performance. I can't wait to test it out on demigod!

Was there any in game footage taken at PAX? I just saw Fallout 3 had a ton more of video taken of it at PAX.
Really I don't think C++ is a great langauge but is still used highly in gaming industry and I don't see that changing anytime soon until a new programming language comes out that can really take advantage of multiprocessors which game programmers seem to have an issue doing. I'm currently in an upper level programming course that foucses on cocurrent programming in C with OPenMP and MPI so we address these issues and it seems like a new language or extending an existin
Yep STL is a very powerful library, I'm glad our school really hit it hard. We actually had to re implement all the data structures in the STL which was a very nice learning experience. I thought the multi-map implementation was the most interesting with linear probing/bucket hashing.
Keep the GPA up, get a co-op/internship or 2 and companies will be all over the place wanting to hire you. co-op/internship I think is super important so make sure you do that
hah Lost_WLd, The language itself isn't what is important, its the problem solving skills. Anyone can learn a language, its only syntax. Before I code, whatever language it may be (C/C++/Java/Scheme/Rexx/etc) I'll write down the big picture, it may be just pictures, then break down each chunk and go deeper into that chunk and write some quick pseudo code solution, then make a better solution, then start coding once I figure out the big picture and get a good idea about the
From what I hear coding in the 80's and early 90s was the best time to do it! Tons of money if you just know alittle from what my uncle tells me (and he's pretty well off with 7 kids).

Yes if you could please clarify on what you meant when you said a year of free updates that would be great. I don't think I've ever played a game that offered updates up until a year, then started charging them unless it was an actual expansion. The only other type of game i've played that had charges associated with it were MMOS.
