Well, illogical is one of the best words I would use to describe Halo. So i guess it all fits.

Well, there is the Eclipse Super Star Destroyer. 17 km long, covered in more weapons than the Death Star, and has 8 grav well generators, which is more than an Immobilizer-418 has. It only has 4. Did I mention the Eclipse has a superlaser capable of penetrating all the way to a planet's core, rendering the planet completely uninhabitable due to the fact a big chunk was blown away by the resulting explosion of ultra-hot magma? And the ash, volcanic gases, windstorms. Can't forget all

He was referring to the SMAC platforms. Nowhere is it mentioned they have point defense. Although for something that is that big of a target, I (the operative word here) would put some point defenses on it.

Why do you want to worship the God of Plague? At least do something that isn't completely disgusting like Tzeentch the God of Change or Slaanesh, the God of Pleasure. Really, you can't go wrong with a god of pleasure. Khorne is right out.

Well, Interdictor Cruisers don't delay a hyperspace jump. They make it so you can't leave, and the Empire's Star Destroyers can turn your ships into scrap metal, coincidentally killing everyone on-board. Take a phase jump inhibitor, make it mobile, and make it so it disables phase jumps in the gravity well. There's your Interdictor.

Okay, do SMAC's fire via ability or is the SMAC their usual, ordinary weapon? No that it makes much difference, because you can't enable weapons via research, only abilities can have research prerequisites. As I was saying though, any flak weapons would need to be abilities. And we could either A: have the ability do a wide-area flak burst like the Kol's, or B: attack fighters individually.
Wait... you're putting in something like a Supermac?...I'm switching to that team.
Well, go join the TCA my friend. However, the UNSC from the Halo mod will be added. And they WILL have actual SMAC's, instead of a platform based off them. And the UNSC in 7DS are supposed to evoke the same response as the Empire, "Oh God RUN!", instead of spamming tissue paper ships like in the Halo mod. 7DS UNSC: Scary as hell. Halo mod UNSC: Meh.

Yeah I set them up so they do one 250 damage shot every 5 seconds. Not quite SMAC, but since their platforms use the same weapon type as the TCA's primary weapons, they also benefit from those researches. Add in the fire rate upgrade and it really kicks ass. Plus I boosted the HP and armor, made it take a butt-load of resources, and take 4 tactical slots to balance things out.

Well, the Executor was the biggest, most powerful ship the Empire had ever made at that point in time. So, chances are your best are going to be safest there. They learn how to be good little officers, and Vader gets the best officers. The whole "suicidal A-wing slamming into bridge causing it to spiral out of control into the Death Star II killing everyone" thing rates less likely than a fluke. Its like winning the lottery. Twice in a row. Except make it bad, and double it.

Slipstreaming unbalances everything. All you need is one scout who is willing to give his life. By that, I mean some scout you choose at random. Whoever attacks first has the advantage of acting. Whoever defends, has to REACT. The UNSC is bad at reacting with much slower ships, therefore SMAC's NEED to be extremely powerful so that the UNSC's fleets don't spend all their time going around in circles.

Okay. How do you propose we balance lasers then? Bigger the ships, more powerful the lasers? Makes sense to me. And is there anyone who is willing to make a Mass Effect mod? I'd be willing to help, as a coder.

Well, if the Covenant gets slipstreaming, then the UNSC has serious problems. They just ignore all your defensive fleets and jump past their locations, making the UNSC play serious catch-up.

2,504 Replies 4,936,465 Views

Well, will they fire every 5 seconds like I heard they do canonically? And I thought the whole point of SMAC's was so the UNSC wouldn't need ships at their planets, and could instead go on the offensive with their massed fleets. If SMAC's can't do it all, then you need to keep ships at your planets, and that will add up as your empire grows, especially with the Covenant just slipstreaming to your planets.
