1) I think at least 7 Demigods have been revealed so far. They are divided up into two types - Generals which build units and Assassins which do more direct attacks - but each type has several different Demigods to choose from. For example, the Assassins also have a sniper-angel, a big dog-like monster called the Unclean Beast, and an undead viking called the Torch Bearer. 2) As far as I know, preordering now will still get you into the beta.

Yeah, there is more than one mother. I like "The God died" more than "The All-Father Vanished" :(
I'm just the opposite... I hate multiplayer games, I detest them, and I despise them specifically when you're not allowed to enjoy the full content or available items unless you play multi-player, and there's been a whole slew of games to do just that. Two recent examples are Stranger and World Shift. The game play sounded like a great deal of fun, but the developers explicitly stated that you could play single player, but unless you were playing multi-player, you'd miss out on the majori
Champion sounds too much like the princess's favorite soldier or something. It doesn't sound like the guy in charge.
Sounds like a lame attempt at a fancier storyline :/. All-Father? That just plain sounds stupid.
Supposedly most games are between 20 and 50 minutes, I think.
As long as it is unranked-only I don't see a problem.
I haven't heard anything about Assassin Demigods that don't kill stuff...
They are "requesting that everyone start migrating to the Official Demigod Forum" here at Stardock. So they aren't just suggesting that we check for news here, they are telling us to start leaving the GPG forums.
What came first, the chicken or the egg? What's more likely? Will community improve with a stable system or will a stable system come with a larger community? Who benefits more? A company that wants to make a profit should actively be building their community. I generally advocate against people whining to companies about every little thing...unless they're completely right and it hurts the fan-base as a whole.
The egg came first since dinosaurs laid eggs before chickens e
We are scattered all over the world so that probably won't work.
I haven't heard a suggestion yet that is better than Assassin. Warlords and Heroes could be Generals or Assassins. Assassin is a little misleading but I think it is fine.
If it was rated M there would be plenty of people who wouldn't be able to get it... besides, blood doesn't really add much to a game, especially when you consider that we are playing with GODS. Gods don't have blood :)
Something like air units seems a little too important to leave out of the betas :D.
Wow, it's nice to see someone so excited about GR :D. I'm also an admin over there for Supcom, and like Poita_ I'll be doing what I can to help out the Demigod section. The best thing we can do now is keep people interested through discussion. Demigod looks like it could be a really great multiplayer game, and an active community is something it'll probably need to succeed.
It is probably a special icon for your castle or something :D
I think the units that come out of the portals (for both Generals and Assassins) are uncontrollable. Generals, however, can make special units that they can control. Generals wouldn't be able to control Assassins' units since normal creeps are uncontrollable.
so how could the beta 1 be no fun then?
Because they don't want people to cry if something crashes, is bugged, or is imbalanced :)
The first guy (the TorchBearer) is an Assassin I think, with various fire and ice spells. The Rook is also an Assassin. Assassin players just get the normal creeps to help out, while General players get to recruit extras. And by "Assassin" and "General", they just mean RPG-ish fighter and RTS-ish commander. They don't necessarily look like rogues or whatever.
80 would be way too many Demigods; they would end up too similar. Most RTS games only have 3 to 10 factions and they don't get boring. This isn't quite the usual RTS but I see no reason why 10 to 20 Demigods would get boring quickly. I think they said that maps won't have height differences.
Spring 2009 is when it is supposed to be out, with an extended beta starting in the summer (supposedly).
[link="http://www.gamereplays.org/demigod/"]Gamereplays[/link] has a Demigod portal. It is a pretty busy site so there should be plenty of activity once the game or beta is released.
