Omg... 10 am... 11 pm here... No sleep for me, dammit...
Tridus: well at least you have choice, right? And if ISP shapes ALL encrypted traffic... i'll just vote with my rouble(dollar, euro, etc) and switch to another ISP. Here we actually have torrent retrackers for large ISP networks :) There were some ISP's , who blocked torrents. None survived.
You cant really block encrypted p2p, especially if portnumbers change. I also think that blocking p2p is like cutting off someone's arm if u just ASSUME he can use it to kill someone. But that not the point. One successful use of p2p in gaming industry - WoW patches. Works like a charm.
P2P Mechanisms are pretty decent if there is enough people using them. It also allows lost of savings on D/L servers and bandwidth. There are few bad things tho: p2p is illegal in some countries(spain iirc and probably france in nearest future); p2p is considered by majority(i used to say "idiots", but ppl always pretend that they dunno where to look for those) as some "pirate tool of doom" and only good for sharing illegal stuff. In the end we have scalable system(unlike d/l servers) with so
With same drivers installed on clean system(Vista 32) with 2x GTX 260 everything is fine. Probably problems with 3-way SLI, which is even more experimental :)
You can always use another PC with Win XP 32bit or install it in virtual enviroment(like VWWare, which is free now for home usage) and d/l and update sins there. Then just copy the folder to your WinXP 64 and go for it. I'm still not sure if Sins will start at all. I just cant resist asking - why on earth you USE XP 64 in the first place? Its totally useless for home usage, unless you have 8 gigs of ram(which is useless for avg home usage also).
As an IT specialist i can say that a LOT of unforseen stuff can arise during deployment of large scale thingies, like download servers, patches, expasions and so on. And its better be blamed for being late than for making crap - thats for sure. SD/IC guys - keep it up. We know u can :) And i'll just go play World of Goo instead :)
