Noob Help! in Sins Modding Sins Forums

My son is just starting to look at mods and currently we cant even get a mod to work, let alone start looking at the rest of the utilities. Yes it is in the right directory, shows up in the menu but as soon as we enable we get a runtime error crashing the game. Tried to find an answer through the forums, and expected a basic walkthrough in the stickies as to how to use mods with sins etc., but no luck. Not new to computers or modding with other programs, but this one has me stumped. &

is there another mod u need to have to get this thing to work? mine just crashes every time im just new to putting mods on my comp so dont /sigh at me or anything plz :)
