The "whitebox" process begins with a fairly rough model which establishes the basic form, proportions, and initial scale of the character (no UV-mapping yet) which is rigged up and exported to the game with a complete set of animations (which may also be fairly rough). Seeing the model in motion within the game allows us to spot strengths and weaknesses which are addressed when the model is later finalized, mapped, textured, rigged, and exported again. Iteration still continues if ne

I'd like to add a few more observations: Searching for members and their posts is very difficult (please pm me if you know a good way). For whatever reason, I can't upload an Avatar regardless of pixel size (tried 50x50, 48x48, 50+X50+ etc)All i get is a Bad Request error. When viewing recent posts, it would be nice to be able to have a filter. In other words, while on the Demigodthegame site, I'd like to see (or click an option) to only see new posts that originate f

yes and yes. So far, they have discussed 3 different modes. 1. Single player 2. Multiplayer everyone starts at ground zero, level playing field (literally), and battles their way up. 3. Persistent multiplayer. The results of your multiplayer battles will effect future multiplayer battles in this mode. The details of how (arena control, demigod items, levels, skills, stats, etc)for this mode have not been fully explained.
I'm edging more towards a charcter like Torch Bearer, but I can't ignore the shear power of a Demigod such as Rook, not to mention his abilities to regain health with the more structures you place on the map.
eh? where was the health regen mentioned? Personally, I'd like to see a random option for the starting from scratch multi-player. A bonus/incentive for going random would be a nice addition.

All creeps insta killed and serious damage on heroes/demi's... And who gets this ultimate spell? Visually it would be amazing. Balanced? No.

In previous journals, it has been said that much of the gameplay was created using a white box concept. As you create and add new Demigods, how is the gameplay affected? In other words, say you come up with this great concept for a new DemiGod, for instance, a demonesque demigod, large, winged, black and red. You've got some great concept art and now, need to model it out, map it and incorporate it into the game. How do you bring together a new demigod concept into the game? Are th

I'd suspect Generals and Assassins both get items though the items they choose to buy/upgrade will likely be different. As Renius has said, relatively few of us on these forums have actually played the alpha, If its from the following: hughferriss - Nate Simpson (Lead Artist) draginol - Developer Timpulse - Tim Cox (Character Artist) or if they have a stardock emblem by their name: frogboy - Brad Wardell CEO of Stardock Kryo Take ear and listen.<br/

@nokthra Can your computer play Supreme Commander? If so you should be set. If it struggles or looks like a slideshow, then it may not be worth it.
By contrast, in a persistent online campaign, there can be all kinds of experimentation. A player witha very powerful Demigod might end up in a game with 3 or 4 opponents (the match making system is based on putting together a very even game) and I know I would find that fun.
See bolded. This is the key. If the matchmaking system is effective, I have no worries that the games will be good, challenging, rewarding, etc. Not sure how points will be assig

After reading the interview, some questions were answered but now I have many more. The game seems to have everything. Single player, Multi-player arena (all start from scratch), Multiplayer persistant. Some reference has been made to TA: Boneyards in both the interviews and on this forum. I never played this, so I've included a couple of links to help others like me learn a little more about what Boneyards was. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boneyards http://www.

I thought the fairy was along the same lines as:
Not to steal thunder from future journal entries, but how are the heroes shaping up?They're coming along great! Let's see, besides the Rook, we've got Zesticus, a giant ambulatory taco. There's the Creeping Sense of Ennui, which was very difficult to concept and animate. There's the Rook's cousin, the Rock (very easy to concept and animate, as he is in fact just a rock). Also, Dolph Lundgren is one of our guest heroes.Don't you

Ah, I join in a little late. One of the biggest incentives for me was the way the game has been developed. These days many games are centered around graphics. From the concept up. This has sorely hurt gameplay. Let me explain. Many game developers have good ideas and want to make excellent games, however, they lack money. To get the money needed for the game, they have to convince someone else who likely knows very little about programming and game development to give them

Yes I fully agree that in the DemiGod context and our modern context, assassin implies targeting single persons. That is why the Assassins in Demigod should be focused on killing individuals, namely the other Demigods (opposing players). Even the rook who should be able to lay waste to the peons, should be ultimately pointed at destroying the other players. True, generals have the same focus, but they do so with an entire army whereas an assassin does by himself. I think champions

Mothers actually, which is probably why the demi-gods are so unique from each other. I'm with Gnats3, by saying the All Father vanished, it gives them some room for story rather than saying He died.
I agree that assassin should be changed to something else. I think that they would have a problem if they ever wanted add a proper assassin character in...I personaly like Champion.
again, please understand that the word assassin does not mean "ninja", "sneaky", "rogue", or "covert". It means a person who commits murder, especially one who murders a politically important person either for hire or from fanatical motives. Thats it. There is no requirement that an assassin

Should be situational. Obviously the rook looks to be a slow lumbering tank that can take alot of punishment before going down. But, depending on items and skills, I'd assume he could be tweaked to fit different roles. Thats at least what I would like to see where you can adapt your demi to the flow of the game not be limited to a strictly "support/healer" role because you chose the "white mage".

The problem with thinking Demigod is a pretty DOTA is that it is not. In other words, all the swarms of DOTA players that would come to play would be disappointed when they find it is not the same game. Seeings how none of us have played it (or those that have are keeping mum), then we have no idea what the game will play like. We do know that some of the inspiration came from DOTA in addition to tradition RTS games, other custom WarcraftIII maps (Line Tower Wars, Footman Frenzy, etc)

Champion works well. When two armies face off and a warrior is selected from each to duel, they are called champions (i.e. David and Goliath). They are not called assassins. Assassins are linked with murder which as defined in Common Law is the unlawful killing of a human person with malice aforethought. Killings that occur in war are not in the same camp as murder though the end result is the same. I think champions may have been a better choice, but I believe assassins

Assassin does not mean sneaky. from M-W.com 1 : a member of a Shia Muslim sect who at the time of the Crusades was sent out on a suicidal mission to murder prominent enemies 2: a person who commits murder; especially : one who murders a politically important person either for hire or from fanatical motives No where does it define Assassin as ninja, sneaky, little, etc. It just happens that is what we think of because those type of people in real life get the job done.

We've been tantalized with a Summer beta. Can we expect something soon, or is late summer looking like a better estimate. Yes, I understand that the beta release date will primarily be decided by the developers not the publishers and as such, Stardock may not have any more information that we the everyman, but can someone throw us a bone?
Don´t like the idea to pay for a beta. But it seems that the developers don´t care about the sense of beta. I´m not sure whether most of the people, who pre-ordered the game will really test the game and give some feedback etc. I will just wait for some test-videos etc.
Its meant to reward those who invest early interest in the game. It also helps push a few that wouldn't pre-order into doing so. However, don't forget you are not charged till the game is shipped. There'
