Vampire Lord was playable at PAX. So people have played "one of these army-coordinating characters". And just because they haven't stopped talking about "Generals and Assassins" doesn't mean they're going to be complete opposites of each other. TB has had creep buffs since beta 1, and he's an assassin, and they've talked about blurring the line more between assassins and generals.
